Marty's Poetry - 5. Insignificance

When I was in the sixth form, myself and a group of my friends tried to write poetry about what we called Truth. The capital T in the word Truth was meant to signify a universal truth, one which would capture and encapsulate all other truths. This was one of my attempts...

Whilst bounded to this nebulous blob
which, with dumbfounded ignorance,
hurtles through the cosmos,
in but the close proximity
of that stellar body
called the sun ...

... how can I hope
to find the truth
of the whole universe,
of which I see
but a billion-billionth part
or less?

Myself and my classmates at the time were all studying science subjects at A level. So we thought there may be a Universal truth. :)

 

But I still do, particularly nowadays (especially with the rise of the likes of Mr Trump, et al), try to separate what's true from what's false.
