Marty's Poetry - 2. why?

A lighthearted piece that I wrote a couple of years ago after spending an evening with a friend whose 4-year-old son seemed to spend most of the evening asking those typical (for a child of his age) why, why, why type questions that the adults present either just didn't have the answers to, or simply thought that the answers were not suitable for one so young.

why is the world round?
why is the sky usually blue?
why does the postman always knock twice?
why is that almost every tom dick and harry seems to be called mick these days?
why is the future not like it used to be?
why is it that foreign countries always seem to be full of foreigners?
why do the good die young?
why does it always seem to be raining these days?
why does friday always come immediately after thursday?
why do i bleed if i cut myself?
why did god create mosquitoes?
why do i doubt the existence of god?
why do i care?
why are most of the best things in life illegal?
why is fire hot?
why is water wet?
why am i worried that some of you will take this poem the wrong way?
why is it that the only certainty in life is death?
why am i always more confused after i read a user guide?
why can't i give up smoking?
why is one man's meat another man's poison?
why did the chicken cross the road?
why should i look before i leap?
why does a cat have nine lives?
why haven't i got nine lives?
why have i used no capital letters in this poem?
why have i used no punctuation except the question mark?
why did i bother using the question mark?
why am i now worried if an apostrophe is punctuation?
why does a stitch in time only save nine?
why am i told to never split my infinitives?
why do more men go bald than women?
why have i started every line with the word why?
why am i writing this?
why am i worried that someone might try answering me?
why have i run out of questions?

why?
