Worlds Apart - 15. One Week Anniversary

Siku slept-in on Friday morning, and Shivay got up on his own to begin work at six-thirty. He made a cup of coffee and went into his office, to check his morning email and daily workload.

To his surprise, he discovered that the Project Manager had removed Gandira from the project schedule completely and had reallocated the resources with Shivay as the sole software engineer assigned to the project.

He knew that any bonus that would be awarded for the success of the project following the software launch would now go to him alone, instead of being split with Gandira and he smiled to himself. Not that he needed the extra money, but he felt it was a bit of Karma coming back to Gandira for spreading gossip.

He dove into the work and would have continued straight through till noon if Siku had not knocked gently on his door at eight, bringing him a plate of eggs, hash browns, turkey sausage and pancakes with syrup.

“I don’t know what a traditional Indian breakfast is yet,” Siku admitted, “But I thought you might like a traditional Canadian breakfast.”

“It looks wonderful!” Shivay replied. “I would have forgotten to eat breakfast entirely if you hadn’t reminded me. “Thank you!”

Siku nodded and let himself out of the tiger’s office to allow him to eat and work.

Shivay forked mouthfuls of potatoes and pancakes into his maw with one hand and continued typing diligently with the other. He didn’t even notice when Siku came back in to take the breakfast dishes away and replace them with a plate of leftover samosas and momos for his lunch.

When he finally stopped working and looked at the time, it was two in the afternoon, and he had polished off his lunch plate without even thinking about it. He felt that he had completed all the programming tasks for this software release, and he checked the schedule to verify. The Project Manager had revised the time estimates again after removing Gandira from the resources, and in the latest plan, he was supposed to have the product ready for quality assurance testing by Wednesday. Somehow, in his intensity today he had completed three days’ worth of work.

He spent the next hour going back and reviewing all the tasks and checking his work, performing his own tests, but as far as he could tell, the work was complete. At three o’clock, he sent a note to the Project Manager and to John that he felt the product development was done and ready for testing to begin on Monday, two full days ahead of schedule.

Less than a minute later his cell phone rang. It was John.

“Shivay!” John exclaimed when he answered, “I don’t know what magic switch in your brain got flipped when you started working from home, but this is amazing! Not everyone can remain productive when taken out of the traditional office environment, but you have proven all the skeptics wrong! You were already our best engineer before, but now you have doubled your own output. I still have to clear things with the bigwigs upstairs, but I wanted to let you know that as far as I’m concerned, you can continue working from your home office for as long as you want.”

“Thank you, sir,” Shivay replied, “It just feels more comfortable to be able to work without distraction or interruption. My friend has Fridays off work, and he brought me breakfast and lunch to my desk so that I could keep working without stopping. I didn’t realize how much I could accomplish in one day when I don’t have to worry about driving back and forth and running out with coworkers to get lunch.”

“Speaking of your friend,” John said, “How are things going if you don’t mind me asking?”

“It’s going well,” Shivay replied. “He actually met my father yesterday, and I think my father approves of him.”

“So, is it your mother who is calling the shots on being banished from the family?”

“Yes,” Shivay said, “And after talking to my father yesterday, I have a better understanding why. There’s a chance that she’ll come around, but if not, it’s nice to know that I still have my father on my side.”

“Good for you,” John said, “I think you’ve definitely made the best of an awkward situation, especially with your work. Keep this up and you’ll be our Lead software engineer in no time, and then your future will really be set.”

“Thank you, John,” Shivay replied, “I’ll keep you apprised if anything changes in my living arrangements in the next week, otherwise I’ll plan to keep working form my home office in the city.”

“Good luck with the family and the new boyfriend,” John said. “I’ll talk to you on Monday.”

Shivay emerged from his office and prowled through the kitchen. Nothing was cooking for dinner, but it was only 3:45, so his bear probably hadn’t gotten started yet. He went up the stairs to the bedroom and found the bed messy but empty. He climbed the last flight of stairs and found Siku stretched out on the couch in sweatpants and a comfy flannel shirt with Charlie in his lap watching Deadliest Catch and drinking a beer.

“Hey there, sugar pie,” Siku said as the tiger entered the room. “How was work?”

“It was fantastic,” Shivay replied, “I got the entire project done two days early, and my rival at the office who had been gossiping about me got kicked off the project completely, which means that I won’t have to split any of the bonus with him. Karma. What did you do today besides bring me food?”

“Well,” Siku said, “I took a couple naps, which was nice, and I went to the grocery store without Charlie for once to stock up on beer for the party tomorrow.”

“Bears do like their beer,” Shivay said with a grin stretching out on the couch next to Siku.

“I didn’t leave you out, my exotic one,” Siku said, “I also picked up a six-pack of Bacardi sparkling rum cocktails in a can, so you can join all the manly-men drinking their beers before getting nekkid!”

“Thank you, honey bear,” Shivay said, giving him a little kiss, “I’m only fifty percent nervous about the party now, so once I get one or two of those in me tomorrow, I should be a regular party-animal.”

“That’s the spirit!” Siku said sipping his beer and watching a crew dump a load of king crabs out onto a sorting table on the television.

“Have you thought about dinner?” Shivay asked.

“Thought about it, and then I made reservations,” Siku said. “It’s Friday, and the one-week anniversary since we met, if you can believe that it’s only been a week. I want to go to 440 Castro and see the guys there tonight, but before that, we’re going to have dinner around the corner on Market Street in a seafood place called ‘Catch’ at 7:00. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and pets are allowed at the outdoor tables, so Charlie can come along with us for the evening.”

Shivay sighed with contentment and rolled onto his back on the couch, placing his head in Siku’s lap next to Charlie.

“How is it that every day with you is more perfect than the last?” Shivay asked, looking up at the bear, and Siku looked back down at him, smiling.

“I’ve had a pretty good streak going this week, I’ll give you that,” he replied. “Just keep that in mind when my luck runs out and we have a really shitty day sometime.”

“I’ll try to remember,” Shivay said, and he turned to his side on Siku’s thigh so he could see the TV and watch a crab fishing ship plow through the waves in icy seas, drenching the crew who scrambled to stay on their feet in the rough waters.

He vaguely felt Siku shifting around in his seat, jostling his head a little bit. Charlie suddenly jumped off Siku’s lap and leapt over to one of the other chairs.

“Ahem,” Siku said. “If you could please roll over and turn your head this way, I think you’ll find that the weekend of fun is about to begin.”

Shivay rolled over and gasped in surprise when he found himself eye level with the bear’s giant cock, sticking out of the waistband on his sweatpants.

“He’s been waiting for your hot mouth all afternoon,” Siku replied, grinning.

Shivay was not that experienced at sucking cock, but he knew what felt good when it was done to him. He slid off the couch and positioned himself on the floor between the bear’s legs. He licked up and down the length with his tongue first before sucking on the head and swirling his tongue underneath the foreskin.

He looked up at Siku’s face and the bear’s blue eyes met his green for a moment before he dropped his head and engulfed the giant bear cock down his throat.

“Oh yes, my tiger!” Siku exclaimed with pleasure, “Suck that cock!”

Shivay ran his tongue all around the rigid pole invading his mouth and the bear moaned and ran his hand through the head of dark hair bobbing in his lap.

“Love,” Siku said, panting, “You’re going to make me come. If you don’t want it in your mouth, you better stop now.”

But Shivay didn’t stop. He held the bulbous head in his mouth and stroked the shaft with his hand frantically as the bear let out a roar and flooded his mouth with hot seed. The tiger savored the taste of his bear before swallowing, and then leapt into Siku’s lap to give him a kiss and share his salty flavor.

“I have a feeling,” Shivay whispered into the bear’s ear, “That this weekend is going to be full of surprises.”

The trio caught an Uber to the Castro district and had a wonderful dinner at Catch.

Shivay had a Peach and Pomegranate Salad and the Grilled Tiger Prawns Fettuccine, and Charlie had a small bowl of the restaurant’s creamy seafood chowder, loaded with Prince Edward Island mussels and clams.

Siku had Crab Croquettes, Fried Calamari, Seafood Paella, Catch Seafood Stew, and Pan Seared Striped Bass.

After finishing their meal, they walked around the corner from Market to Castro and went in the door at 440 Castro.

“Siku! Charlie!” the regulars at the end of the bar called out when they entered.

Siku took Shivay by the hand and led him over to his group of friends.

“Guys,” Siku said, “I said that I promised I would consult you before things with Shivay got too serious, and I’m here to keep that promise.”

“Yeah,” Grant said, “But usually when someone does that, they don’t bring the boyfriend with them when they come to get advice!”

Siku shrugged.

“Things are moving fast,” he said. “Primarily because he stayed all night at my place after our date on Sunday, and when he got back to his family’s home early on Monday morning, his mother actually grabbed him by the shirt and smelled him. She told him that he smelled like my used cum rag and threw him out.”

“So…” Shivay interrupted, “I moved in with this big stinky bear, and I’ve been smelling like his cum rag ever since!”

The group of men erupted with laughter and clapped Siku on the back.

“Well, congratulations, I guess.” Simon said to Siku before turning to Shivay. “Does this mean that you’re out of the closet?”

Shivay grinned.

“I’m out of the closet, mounted on the back of a rainbow unicorn riding on a Pride Parade float surrounded by jockstrap-clad leathermen!” he said. “It think that’s as far out as out can get.”

“Even though he got kicked out of his family home by his mother,” Siku said, “His father showed up at our place last night and gave me his blessing to continue fucking his only son.”

Maury choked and spit his beer across the room.

“Well,” Shivay commented, “He didn’t say those exact words, but it was implied.”

The group continued to laugh and joke as the night went on, and Siku noticed that Wayne had not yet said anything, but he looked at Siku and Shivay with misty eyes.

“Wayne?” Siku said, stepping close to the man and speaking to him privately as the other five continued to laugh and joke amongst themselves, “Is there something wrong?”

“No, nothing,” Wayne replied, shaking his head, and smiling, “It’s just like some kind of fairy tale. You two come from completely different worlds, and you manage to both come to the city at the right time to find each other and… and it’s true love. Sorry, I’m just a big ol’ softie when I see two men find their other half the way you two have.”

“Oh Lord!” Grant exclaimed, overhearing the end of Wayne’s conversation with Siku, “It’s not a Hallmark Gay Movie of the Week, for shit’s sake! Two guys hooked up and they discovered that they like hooking up with each other so much that they’ve decided to hook up for life is all! Don’t be such a pussy!”

“Yes,” Shivay added, “That’s Charlie’s job!”

Shivay had been sipping rum and ginger cocktails all evening, and after a while, tugged on Siku’s sleeve.

“Babe,” he said. “I’m going to the restroom. I’ll be back in just a minute.”

“Take Charlie with you for protection,” Siku replied, and he glanced at the cat. Charlie understood immediately and leapt over to Shivay’s shoulder.

“I’m just taking a piss!” Shivay exclaimed with a chuckle, “I hardly think I’ll need protection!”

But he left the group with the cat on his shoulder anyway.

A minute later, Tearoom Ted came bursting from the men’s room door, holding a scratched and bleeding hand as he ran for the exit.

“Fucking freakshow in this city!” he yelled as he ran out the door into the street.

A few seconds later, a stunned-looking Shivay emerged from the restroom, with Charlie still sitting on his shoulder, calmly licking her claws.

“You won’t believe what happened in there,” Shivay said.

“Oh, I’m pretty sure we can guess!” Grant replied, and the group of men erupted into laughter again, praising Charlie for her ability to handle the riffraff so easily.

When the hour grew late, Siku, Shivay and Charlie caught an Uber back home to Sea Cliff.

The couple quickly headed for the bedroom and stripped nude before climbing into bed and snuggling together under the feather bedspread.

“Tomorrow at the party,” Siku said, “I want you to keep Charlie close by. I don’t know any of these bears who will be coming except for Colt, and even he was a bit more aggressive in bed than I’m accustomed to. If any of them get too rough with you, Charlie will help to keep them in line.”

“Sugar bear,” Shivay replied, “Please remember that I am a tiger! I appreciate Charlie’s protectiveness over me, but I do not need a housecat to come to my rescue if a bear starts getting too rough. I have claws too!”

To prove his point, Shivay let the tips of his fingers shift and allowed the sharp claws to extend menacingly, waving them in Siku’s face.

“Okay love,” Siku said with a chuckle, “Put those away before you poke an eye out!”

Shivay let his claws retract and shifted back to a human hand. With a wicked grin he threw back the bedspread, rolled Siku onto his back, and lifted the bear’s legs to his chest.

“If those big, bad bears get out of line,” Shivay said, “I’ll just give them this!”

He thrust his hips and his long tiger cock speared Siku’s hole in one quick motion.

“Ah!” Siku cried, “Gentle, love!”

“See?” he said, pumping his hips slowly as he sensually fucked the bear’s ass. “I can give as well as get.”

Siku slid his legs down from Shivay’s shoulders and wrapped them around the tiger’s torso, encouraging the big cat to fuck him faster and harder.

Shivay thrust his hips aggressively, rubbing Siku’s hairy chest and twisting his nipples. Siku closed his eyes and enjoyed the sensations of being mounted by his Mate, admiring that while the tiger could be rough and dominant when he chose, he did not cross the line into abusiveness the way Colt had only a week ago.

“Oh, my bear!” Shivay cried as he grasped Siku’s cock and began to stroke it as he continued to fuck the bear’s ass roughly, “I am close! I want you to come with me!”

“Keep doing that, Love,” Siku replied, “And we will both have our reward!”

Siku quickly let out a roar and he grabbed Shivay by the shoulders as his cock erupted within the pumping fist. The tiger felt the bear’s muscles clench with his orgasm, and he pushed himself in deeply, spilling his seed into his love while staring intensely into his ice-blue eyes.

“If you hold your own that well tomorrow,” Siku panted, “You’ll be the most popular tiger at the party!”

“I’ll be the only tiger at the party!” Shivay corrected, but he smiled at his bear’s compliment.

The pair shifted into their usual spooning position with Shivay’s back snuggled against Siku’s hairy chest, and they pulled the bedspread back over top of them before drifting to sleep.

Charlie waited until her bear and tiger had finished their mating for the night and were asleep before jumping onto the bed and curling up quietly in the bend behind Siku’s knees. As she slept, she was again visited by the Viking woman borne on the chariot drawn by the mighty long-haired male cats.

“Kaarel,” the woman said as the chariot drew to a halt in front of the cat. “You have done exceedingly well. Odin and I have used seiðr to view the future, and the fate of this pair in the years to come as bonded Mates is essential to the continued existence of the old gods and all lycans under their protection.

“However, this pair has now reached a crossroads. The next several days will be fraught with turmoil, and that muddies the visions of the seiðr. They may emerge on the other side of this chaos as the true Mates they are destined to be, or their pure love may shatter, destroying not only themselves, but the future of the lycan world as we know it.

“Their union is the lynchpin upon which the Fate of All depends. You, Kaarel, are responsible for ensuring that their love survives the upcoming madness, thereby saving us all. If you succeed, you will receive the blessings of the Vanir and Æsir.”

Charlie meowed a response to the Viking woman in her dream, and the lady smiled upon her, flicking the reins, and departing in her chariot pulled by the mighty cats.

The orange cat purred in her sleep and stretched her legs in her soft bed. In her subconscious, she set her mind to the sole purpose of keeping her bear and his tiger lover together as true Mates, and she dreamed of blessings of fresh tuna for all the days of her life.

I am sure that this is Freyja but can't recall any Kaarel in any Norse mythology, will have to check when I have time.  I do love how you are able to pull in different aspects of mythology from different cultures to enhance your stories.

It is indeed Freyja who is visiting Charlie in her dreams, but don't look too hard for a Kaarel in mythology, because she isn't there.  Kaarel is simply Charlie's "secret name" known only to the Vanir and Æsir.  She is a modern-day being and has been placed in the path Siku's life to provide influence; to nudge him in the directions that Fate has intended.

Ah, we're going with end of the world, destiny as foreseen by norse gods, and angelic messengers playing cupid. Well, at least we'll finally get some conflict, some actual plot, maybe some other characters that add some level of intrigue. Considering theres a binary good and bad ending, the result is now obvious. With the stakes that high, theres no way you'd follow through on that. Siku and Shivay will be true mates, although that was obvious when they fell in love at first date. I hate to sound so negative but this particular book has been so boring. The first book had death as a possibility for beloved characters. The second was an expansion of the lore and how bad bears can be. The third was an exploration of a character and their trauma. The fourth was full of mythology and gods and ghosts and shit. Even if it wasn't great, there were elements I didnt expect and intrigue. Here, Siku wants a mate. Find the mate. They're perfect together and fall in love immediately. And now I know they cant break up or be threatened by the mom or something with the party, cause they have to be together or else the world ends, and I'm calling your narrative bluff. Honestly I enjoyed Siku on the road, but beyond that this has been just... disappointing.

I am having a great time with this story.  This mix of supernatural and mythical is a lot of fun.  It is sad that some can't just sit back and engage in suspension of disbelief.  I do believe that Kaarel is a kind of warrior employed to fight for the preservation of Siku and Shivay's love.  That their love will affect the future is a reflection of the hopes of all humans. Humans want to know their actions will have an impact on the future.
