Two Years Gone - 1. Chapter 1
For Carlos
Life rushed on day after day, then
Two years had passed—still hard to say
Though time has flown, and you’re not here
Through your words, we travel and keep you near
Your pen could craft a world unseen
Paint a canvas of bright and vivid scenes
In every word I write today
In all your tales, your spirit stays
You left us pages to explore
And so, you live in what we adore
An engine roars and I think of you riding
Wind in your face—unrestrained, freefalling
A ghost on wheels—free, untamed
Just like you lived—bold and unafraid
I see you still in flashes of light
A silhouette in shadows that dance at night
And when the sunset warms the sky
I feel your spirit riding by
Two years away, yet ever near
In every memory, every tear
Two years gone yet here you stay
Your voice, a whisper, steady, always
And while you journey ever free
A part of you remains alive in me
So, here’s to you my treasured friend
May your life in motion never end
And when that rumble echoes low and strong
I’ll know it’s you who is riding on.

Thank you to Val, and all who helped in keeping the memory of our friend alive.
