Haiku and Tanka - 1. Childhood

Childhood memories

Wondrous pearls on a string,

Cherish them always

Glitter on my face,

Squishy stuff and glue to eat

Kindergarten times

Sweet angel kisses

On down so light, such sweet dreams

Blessed on you tonight

Screams in the pillow

Darkness like a shadow comes

Innocence shattered

Dew on pedals, bugs,

rainbows, pots of gold, daydreams,

morphing cloud-shapes seen,

creepy monsters under beds

midnight flights on dragon back

Childhood

by Lugh

Afraid of the dark

Boogie man gonna get me

Mama can't see him

Crouched in the closet hiding

Waiting for lights out - and me

School days taught me well

Reading, writing, 'rithmatic

Knowledge is power

Remembering Two:

Walking 'round on tipsy-toes

Parks and Zoos to see

Running bare-butt and carefree

Sand and dirt all over me

Dancing in the rain

Stomping mud puddles - splish, splash

New red galoshes

Conquered all with pride

Monkey bars, swings, slide

Playground champion
