Haiku and Tanka - 4. Doorways

Doorways Haiku and Tanka

lives drifting between

portals opening and closing

here and there, no end

Unlimited paths

forks untold, myrid of doors

hence, our lives unfold

Closed doors, no way out

turning, twisting, cannot see

darkness surrounding

cannot breathe, closing in tight

no relief in sight, help me.

portals to the soul

wide open with fresh wonder

a new born babe's eyes

rectangles, circles

in all shapes and sizes doors come

wide open and closed tight

open up a book

search, learn, discover, explore

open up a mind

Flung wide open - Come!

Enter me they beckon - See!

What we behold - You!

Opportunity

admission to a man's soul

seeds planted will grow

Two doors to pick from

Salvation or Damnation

walk the path you chose

wooden frame, creaky

hinges, ivy trailing up

both sides - but no knob
