The Golosina, the Forgotten Land and the Skurkene - 6. Chapter 6

‘She’s coming. She has the cloud with her.’

‘One second,’ Tav reached over and buttoned up the top button of Freddy’s shirt to hide the band.

Freddy raised his eyebrow. Tav just smiled.

Princess Keira ran up the wonky stairs of the gloomy castle, sword ready in hand.

Bashing at the door, she bellowed, ‘I am coming, my Prince’

She managed to hack the door down. In the room Prince Alfred was chained to the wall with the Wizard snarling next to his giant blue flame.

‘Let him go’ she stated, pointing her sword towards him.

‘Come forward if you want,’ he snarled, pointing at the loose floorboards. ‘But it’s at your own choice if you fall or not.’

Princess Keira squinted her eyes at him and frowned, ‘Let him go now’

She charged at the wizard, sword ready to fight. The wizard using his dark magic, threw glass balls to fight against her, but the Princess would smash through each item, shattering it into pieces.

The wizard then created a giant glass ball and pushed it to her. The princess froze but thinking quickly she stamped on the loose floorboard beneath her. The ball then began rolling back into the wizard.

Spluttering, the wizard stepped backwards against a glass window, hands clutched to his chest before. He tripped backwards out of the window with the giant glass ball rolling right on after him.

‘Agh!’ the wizard screamed.

Princess Keira ran over and watched the ball fall to the ground, the wizard just underneath it and the wizard was no more. She looked over to the woods and saw the gloom that once fell over it was now gone. Smiling, she ran over to her prince and began to hack at his chains.

‘You saved me, princess,’ he said, rubbing his wrists. ‘I will be forever grateful.’

Princess Keira and Prince Alfred then went back to Princess Keira’s castle where Prince Alfred proposed and the two married. They lived Happily ever after.

The story ended and Keira and Freddy were back in Phaenomenon

The wedding festivals were over and Keira was oozing with confidence and shimmering at the reception. She loved acting as a princess warrior, boasting how she had to learn all of Freddy’s moves in a short space of time. But she did it and everyone told her she did an amazing job. It wasn’t a real wedding more like a finalisation of their story, they had a meeting with some documents in a separate room then went to join the other princes and princesses who were finalising their stories. It always ended with marriages. It never felt good, a lot of the princes just hung out together getting drunk and the princesses would dance and laugh with each other.

There were no real marriages, just performances.

Later on, Freddy was walking with Keira back to their rooms.

‘This turn made the story so much better than what it was,’ Keira gushed. ‘Warrior princess, that’s what’s popular with the humans now.’

‘You did better than me,’ chuckled Freddy. ‘Now you can relax.’

‘I may get into sword fighting more,’ she giggled.

Freddy bit his lip. She didn’t really do any fighting but he didn’t want to burst her bubble. He got to his bedroom door and was so relieved.

‘Of course,’ smiled Freddy, he leaned over and kissed her softly on the cheek. ‘Well good night, warrior princess. See you tomorrow.’

Keira smiled, clearly loving her name, and Freddy smiled back watching her walk off down to her room, she started her singing.

He went into his room and closed his bedroom door and let out a big sigh. He rested his forehead against the door.

‘Is she singing again?’

Freddy’s eyes were wide open. That was Tav’s voice. He looked all around the room. It was bare, just a wardrobe and a bed. Freddy then went to the window, perhaps he was there?

‘Nope, not there either.’

He heard Tav’s voice again. He frowned. Where was he?

‘Look at your band.’

The band?

‘Yeah, the band.’

Freddy paused. He hadn’t even spoken out loud, how did Tav know what he was thinking?

‘Just look at the band already,’

Looking down, Freddy undid his shirt collar, and saw the band around his neck. He went to the mirror and watched in amazement as it went completely white.

‘It’s a communication device. I told you, remember?’ Tav’s voice said. ‘You don’t need to talk out loud, Freddy, you can just say something in your mind and I’ll hear you.’

Freddy stared at his reflection.

‘Could you hear everything all the time?’ Freddy thought.

‘I will only listen when you want me to. I’m not looking into your thoughts all the time, I’m not a creep.’

Freddy felt a release of tension he didn’t know he had been holding, the tightening anxiety slipping away, and he touched the band, smiling with happiness, ‘You’re okay.’

‘Of course, I am. Your plan worked.’

‘Our plan.’

‘Yeah,’ Tav’s voice softened.

Freddy instantly sniffed and sat on the edge of his bed, ‘You’re safe, right?’

‘Yeah, I’m safe. The ball really looked like it crushed me, didn’t it.’

‘Glad you escaped it,’ Freddy paused. ‘I like hearing your voice.’

Freddy heard Tav laugh, ‘You’re too soft.’

‘Well, that’s skin for you.’

Tav laughed again, ‘You are an odd one, Freddy.’

‘Yeah,’ Freddy grinned, thinking out loud, shaking his head.

If you need me just think loudly of my name, okay?’ Tav whispered
