The election is a massacre. The Liberal Party is in ruins. And Julian Dufresne—a sociopathic academic backed by dark money—is poised to seize the ashes.

Shadow Minister Will Carter survived the bloodbath, but surviving isn't enough. As his husband Andrew races to disarm a Russian cyber-weapon in the shadows of Hong Kong, Will must play the longest game of his career—surviving Dufresne's rise, holding his party together, and protecting the family he's built.

From the campaign trail to the backrooms of Hong Kong, the Carters are about to discover that the real war is only beginning.

Will Carter faced the most serious political disaster of his career. He held his seat but the Liberal Party was down to a small standing in Parliament. He has to decide what to do and find allies. Julian Defresne, his sociopathic opponent, will take over the control of his party.

The country is undergoing a severe financial crisis and needs international help. The PM appoints as his trade representative to find help from the Chinese i Hong Kong. He does not know Andrew is going to be with him to stop the FSB hidden role in the crisis.  Andrew will face multiple efforts to stop him and kill him. Chinese intelligence will be watching him.

This is a fascinating ,complex story worthy of a Carter tale. You need to read on to the end through the back and forth contours of the plot to find out who wins and loses.
