In this short sci-fi story, the earth has been destroyed and the survivors, have taken up residence of other planets.  This group of survivors are living on a planet called Glandar, which was separated into different communities.  It also went by old laws that they'd brought with them or remembered from earth, and one of them was that a man shall not lay with another man as he would with a woman.  

This story focuses on the shepherd village, where the children are brought up to keep track of the lambs, kids, and calves.  The men are also only allowed to have intimate relations with their wives during one week that coincides with a festival.  That way, all the children are born in the fall.  When one particular baby was born, who later is named Timla, the priest claims there was something different about the boy.  When he is nine, Timla is sent away to live with the watcher so he can replace him when he dies.  The watcher, keeps tab on all of the communities on the planet. 

Timla has a friend, named Conda, who is also different like himself, become close, so what will happen if the break that one particular law.  If you want to know more about this planet and what happened to these two boys, you'll have to read this imaginative and compelling short story.  If you haven't tried sci-fi before, give this story a try.
