A summer on the beach, a chance encounter, and the ensuing collision of worlds. A gay teenager and his straight best friend had a foretaste of adulthood on the cusp of them leaving the high school life behind. They had to reaffirm their friendship. They met & fell in love with new people and became inevitably entangled in their lives. On top of that, they had to manage their occasionally challenging family & parents. All this in the name of love and self-discovery, of course, if the reader is at all familiar with the world of @Dabeagle

I followed the story as one of the many ardent fans of his writing, during a crazily hectic winter & holiday season. And as usual I was entertained and enlightened, even though much of his style is familiar to me. This story, like all others by the same author, tackles something different. Here we have a kid with an immigrant background & all the complications that come with the coexistence of two cultures within him. The intimate arts of loving and making food. The thundery showers on the coast initiate and interrupt things. What is love? How is it different from infatuation?

I sometimes wonder, If I had read these stories as a teenager, might I have turned out differently? Some lessons in life we had to learn the hard way & can't readily be imparted by a tale. But maybe some lessons can be learned by reflecting on how these teenage protagonists deal with life?

A delightful story from a prolific author of wonderful stories!  It is a wonderful story of discovery, self-acceptance, and standing up for oneself.  My only criticism is that it's too short!

Pupuseria Mia is beautiful story of summer that changed lives of the main characters. It gives answers to questions: is it possible to overcome the feelings and impossible love and find future in true, realistic love? Is it possible to reconcile to worlds and two cultures? Is it possible to save friendship when feelings are stronger and more romantic? Is it possible to save relationship when the strong religious believes forbid the love between two boys?...

You'll enjoy this amazing journey of love, friendship, family and food in a beautiful scenery of picturesque seaside town.

One thing about being an author who consistently writes excellent stories is living up to the standards you set.Well no worries on this story this one more then lives up to it.

I hesitate to mention this because I don't want to give too much away although the reader will get plenty of clues where things are going. There are always issues of course and parents influence always complicating things and in this one there is a slightly different topic that come up that being cultural differences and religion that is all I'll say.For those of you familiar with this author I don't need to say this but those who are not this is highly recommended
