We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident - Let Freedom Ring by Empath

Joshua is living the American Dream, but he knows that his perfect life in the Land of Lincoln is a lie.  Things are about to take a major turn, and all it will take is some click bait, a dead president, and an empty bottle of Scotch.  A coming out story, and a reflection on mankind's inalienable rights.  (Read time: ~ 1 hour)

An excellent piece of writing from our newish writer. @empath is a welcome new star, in my opinion.  This is beautifully written, holds together really well, and draws you into a delightful love story.

This and their other stories are highly recommended. 5*****

Response from the author:

Thank you so much @Gary L.  This story started as simple need to process and be seen, but it took on a life of its own (or two lives, I guess).  I am glad you enjoyed it and hope to see you often as I add stories and characters to the Land of Lincoln!

A chance meeting in an environment totally foreign to one of the two protagonists in this story leads to a catharsis for both, resulting in a love neither thought he would ever experience.

A beautifully crafted story about two men, one in particular who has a number of endearing quirks. There is little in the way of melodrama, the strength of the story being the character growth of the two protagonists, both individually and in their relationship with each other.

I echo the comments of @Gary L, @empath impresses with this marvellous literary debut. An author to follow as evidenced by this and his newer work Kept Boy to Made Man.

Response from the author:

Thank you for the beautiful and thoughtful review @Summerabbacat!  I am so glad you enjoyed this story, and I appreciate your glowing praise.
