Wayne is a gay teen living in a toxic household with abusive and bigoted parents. He is a strong and resilient person that cannot be broken by the environment in his house.  It takes some years, but when he gets the opportunity he makes his exit in style and grace.  This is a romantic story and tale of courage.  I also agree that it is a must read story.
