In this short story, the main character and Sam like to spend their holidays climbing mountains.  They have already climbed most of the mountains in Wales, Scotland, and England, so they're turning their attention to Ireland.  After spending most of their two weeks climbing various mountains, on their next to last day they climb another mountain.  During the climb, the main character considers the grass, moss, and lichen that grows between or on the rocks that their climbing on and wonders how life can exist in such harsh places.  After this holiday, Sam finishes Uni and moves away, and eventually they stop communicating with one another, but the main character continues climbing more mountains.  

My biggest problem with this story is that it's mainly narration and has very minimal dialogue.  I believe this story, which is good, would be much better if he did more "showing" rather than "telling".
