We Lift Them Up To The Lord

While on holiday with his family, all Scott wants is to read, watch the ocean, and have some quiet time away from the pressures of being a straight-A student and captain of the rugby team. His pesky younger brother isn't helping things much, always butting in with questions Scott would rather not answer. For Scott has a secret. As Easter looms, conversations between the brothers grow darker and more poignant as Scott's family deals with emotional wounds that have isolated parents and children from one another.

This was an interesting story, although I was left hanging at the end.  I hope there is a story to follow about the brief relationship described toward the end of the story.

 

You left me guessing about Mark throughout the story.  I thought that he was actually alive and was just trying to find out more about his older brother.

Lift Them Up To The Lord is a short story about Scott who has to come to terms with the death of his brother.

The title is a reference to a line in the mass and in this story is used as a way of avoiding the reality of a tragic death in the family.

It had me laughing and crying. It was also nice to read a story where I knew all the locations.
