Enthralled - 1. Chapter 1
The night was thick and humid, clinging to the brickwork of the two-story suburban house like a second skin. To a human, the air might have felt suffocating, heavy with the oppressive heat of late July, but to Andy, it was nothing more than a canvas. It was a medium through which the scents of the living traveled, carried on a rooftop breeze that ruffled the dark, heavily pomaded hair he had painstakingly styled hours earlier. He stood at the base of the trellis, bathed in the pale, sickly glow of a distant streetlamp, looking every inch the 1950s rebel he had frozen himself into. The leather jacket sat heavy and comforting on his shoulders, the collar popped just enough to frame the intricate ouroboros tattooed into the pale flesh of his neck—a snake endlessly consuming its own tail, a perfect, mocking symbol of his eternal, unchanging existence.
For three hundred years, Andy had been the hunter. He was a creature of calculated stillness and sudden, devastating violence. He knew the rhythms of human desire better than they knew themselves. He knew how to tilt his head, how to let a smirk play across his lips, how to lower his voice until it became a physical vibration that resonated in a girl’s chest. He had played the long game with the girl who slept on the second floor of this house. Weeks of meticulously crafted charm. Lingering glances by her locker. Gentle, seemingly accidental brushes of his hand against hers. He had fed on her, just a little, taking tiny sips in the shadows of the bleachers to keep her pliable, sweet, and entirely obsessed with him. She thought he was a mysterious bad boy with a heart of gold. She thought tonight was the night they were going to run away together.
Andy’s fangs ached with a dull, throbbing pressure. He ran a perfectly manicured thumb over his lower lip, feeling the sharp, hidden points pressing against the skin. Tonight was the night, alright. But he wasn’t going to run away with her. He was going to drain her. The final course. It was a routine he had perfected across centuries, across continents, across a thousand different lifetimes.
He reached out, his pale, cold fingers curling around the wooden slats of the trellis. He didn’t climb so much as he glided upward, defying gravity with the supernatural ease of an apex predator. His muscles didn't strain; his breathing remained nonexistent. He was a ghost ascending into the midnight buzz. He felt a swell of stupid, ancient pride. He was unstoppable. He was a god of the night, coming to claim his willing sacrifice.
He reached the second-floor ledge. The window was cracked open, just as she had promised. He smiled, a thin, cruel expression that didn't reach his dark, dead eyes. He slid his fingers under the sash and eased it up. Silent as death. That was his thing.
He slipped through the gap, a shadow detaching itself from the night and pouring into the room. He stood up, letting the darkness wash over him, closing his eyes to let his other senses take over. He expected the cloying, floral scent of her perfume. He expected the soft, rhythmic thrum of her delicate heartbeat.
Instead, a smell hit him with the force of a physical blow.
Andy’s eyes snapped open. He inhaled sharply, a reflexive gasp that he hadn't needed to take in centuries.
Bleach.
It was sharp, chemical, and entirely unmistakable. But it wasn't coming from a bottle of cleaning supplies. Beneath that caustic, sterile top note was something intensely organic, heavy, and musky. It was the smell of sweat, of heat, of friction. It was the undeniable, suffocating scent of male arousal, thick and lingering in the humid air of the small room.
Andy’s mouth watered, but not for blood. The reaction confused him so deeply that for a fraction of a second, his brain completely stalled. Why was his dead heart giving a single, heavy thud against his ribs? Why was the cold blood in his veins suddenly feeling thick and sluggish?
He blinked, his preternatural vision piercing the gloom. This wasn't her room. There were no frilly curtains, no vanity mirror covered in lipsticks. There were clothes discarded haphazardly on the floor—a gray hoodie, a pair of worn-out sneakers, denim jeans kicked into a corner.
The bed in the center of the room rustled.
Andy froze, his predator instincts screaming at him to vanish, to melt back into the shadows and escape. But he couldn't move. He was rooted to the spot by the overwhelming, intoxicating scent of the boy in the bed.
A figure sat up, the sheets pooling around his waist. He was young, lean, and entirely shirtless. The faint ambient light caught the sheen of sweat on his chest and the sharp line of his collarbone.
"Took you long enough," a voice said.
It wasn't her voice. It was deeper, raspy, and practically dripping with cocky amusement.
Andy recognized him instantly. Lucas. Her younger brother. The quiet one. The one who always sat at the kitchen table doing homework while Andy was busy seducing his sister in the living room. The one who always looked at Andy a little too long, with dark, heavy eyes that Andy had previously dismissed as mere teenage suspicion.
"I..." Andy started. The word tasted like ash on his tongue. He never stuttered. He hadn't tripped over a word since the 1700s. He was the epitome of cool, a mid-century greaser archetype carved from marble. "I thought this was... I'm here for..."
Lucas let out a low, breathless laugh that sent a bizarre, unbidden shiver down Andy’s spine. "I know exactly who you're here for. But she's not home. Went to a friend's house. Funny how that worked out, huh?"
Andy's mind raced. He should leave. He could jump out the window, disappear into the night, and find another meal. He was a monster. He was a killer. He didn't stand around making awkward conversation with the siblings of his prey.
But the smell. The heavy, bleach-like scent of Lucas's arousal was intoxicating. It was pulling at Andy, dragging him down into a strange, dizzying gravity. Lucas had known he was coming. Lucas had been waiting for him. Lucas had been lying in this bed, thinking about him, touching himself while waiting for the vampire to climb through the wrong window.
The realization hit Andy like a freight train. Before he could process it, Lucas swung his legs out of bed and stood up.
He didn't look afraid. There was no terror in his eyes, no trembling in his limbs. He looked hungry.
Lucas crossed the room, his bare feet silent on the carpet. He closed the distance between them with a predator's grace that rivaled Andy's own. Andy took a step back, his shoulders hitting the solid wood of the bedroom door. When had Lucas closed it?
Lucas didn't stop until he was mere inches away. The heat radiating from the boy's skin was staggering. To Andy's cold, undead body, Lucas felt like a furnace, a blazing sun contained within a teenage frame.
"You've been playing her for weeks," Lucas murmured, his voice dropping an octave, becoming a private, intimate vibration. He raised a hand and planted it flat against the chest of Andy’s leather jacket. The push was gentle, but completely authoritative. "I've been watching you, Andy. The way you look at her. The way you pretend to care. I know you were just getting ready to take a bite."
Andy's fangs flared, sliding down to rest against his lower lip. It was an involuntary reaction, a defensive mechanism. He could tear the boy's throat out right now. He could paint the walls with him.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Andy lied, his voice sounding entirely too breathy, stripped of its usual smooth baritone.
"Bullshit," Lucas whispered. He stepped even closer, his bare chest brushing against the cold leather of Andy's jacket. "I know what you are. And I know what you need. But you're not getting it from her."
Without warning, Lucas reached up, his fingers twisting into the collar of Andy's jacket, and pulled him down into a kiss.
For a vampire who had lived three centuries, Andy was entirely unprepared for the shock of it. It wasn't the tentative, nervous kiss of a victim, nor was it the practiced, performative kiss he usually gave. It was a collision. Lucas's mouth was hot, wet, and aggressively demanding. He tasted of salt, of sleep, of raw, unapologetic want.
Andy’s brain short-circuited. His hands, which normally would have reached up to snap a neck or secure a wrist, betrayed him entirely. They flew to Lucas’s waist, his cold, pale fingers gripping the boy’s warm hips.
Lucas let out a muffled groan against Andy's mouth, the sound vibrating straight into Andy’s chest, jumpstarting a heart that had been still for lifetimes. Lucas's tongue pushed past Andy's lips, demanding entrance, sweeping the interior of his mouth with a frantic, desperate heat.
And then, Lucas's tongue brushed against the sharp, lethal point of Andy's fang.
A normal human would have flinched, pulled away in terror, realized the monster they were holding. But Lucas didn't pull away. Instead, he sucked on the fang, a deliberate, obscene gesture that sent a bolt of pure, white-hot electricity straight to Andy's groin.
Andy gasped, breaking the kiss. He stared down at the boy, his dark eyes wide with shock. "You... you know."
"Of course I know," Lucas panted, his chest heaving, his eyes dark with lust. He reached up, his hands grabbing the lapels of Andy's leather jacket. With a swift, forceful motion, he shoved the jacket off Andy's shoulders, letting it drop to the floor in a heavy heap. "You're cold. You're dead. But you're so fucking beautiful."
The loss of the jacket felt like the stripping away of his armor. Andy was left in his tight white t-shirt, the fabric clinging to his statuesque chest. He felt exposed, vulnerable in a way he hadn't experienced since he was mortal.
Lucas didn't give him time to recover. He grabbed the hem of the t-shirt and pulled it up and over Andy's head, tossing it aside. He ran his warm, calloused hands over Andy's pale, hard chest, tracing the unnatural stillness of his muscles. Lucas’s fingers found the tattoo on Andy’s neck, tracing the lines of the ouroboros.
"Always eating yourself," Lucas whispered, pressing an open-mouthed kiss directly over the ink. "Always so hungry. Let me feed you, Andy. Let me give you something real."
The heat of Lucas's mouth on his neck, right over the tattoo that marked his eternal curse, broke whatever restraint Andy had left. The predator became the prey. The master became the novice. Andy's knees practically buckled, his cool exterior shattering completely as a profound, overwhelming submission washed over him.
He didn't want to fight. He didn't want to kill. For the first time in three hundred years, he wanted to be consumed.
Lucas grabbed Andy by the belt loops of his dark denim jeans and shoved him backward. Andy stumbled, his calves hitting the edge of the mattress, and he fell backward onto the bed. The springs creaked loudly in the quiet house, but Lucas didn't seem to care about the noise.
Andy lay flat on his back, staring up at the ceiling, his chest rising and falling in phantom, ragged breaths. He was a vampire. He was a creature of nightmare. He shouldn't be lying on his back, legs spread, completely at the mercy of a mortal teenager.
But as Lucas crawled onto the bed, straddling Andy's thighs, Andy felt a surge of arousal so intense it bordered on pain.
"Look at you," Lucas sneered affectionately, looking down at the ancient creature pinned beneath him. The boy was blazing with confidence, fueled by the staggering realization that he had completely tamed the monster in his bedroom. "The big, bad vampire. Completely pathetic."
"Lucas, please," Andy choked out, the word foreign and jagged in his throat. He had never begged. Never. But the heat radiating from Lucas’s body was a thousand degrees, and Andy was freezing, desperate for the warmth.
Lucas reached down and deftly unbuckled Andy's belt, the metallic clink loud in the silent room. "Please what? You came in through the wrong window, Andy. You were looking for a sweet little snack. But you walked into the main course."
Lucas yanked the zipper down and shoved the denim and Andy's underwear down his pale thighs in one fluid motion. The cool night air hit Andy's flushed skin, but it was immediately replaced by the searing heat of Lucas's hands.
The boy didn't hesitate. He leaned down, his mouth replacing his hands, and Andy’s back arched violently off the mattress. A guttural, inhuman sound tore from Andy's throat, a sound of absolute surrender and blinding pleasure. The 1950s tough guy facade was annihilated, ground into dust by the wet, hot suction of a teenage boy's mouth.
Andy’s hands flew into Lucas's dark hair, gripping the strands tightly. He didn't push him away; he held him there, tethering himself to the intense, burning reality of what was happening. Every slide of Lucas's tongue, every scrape of his teeth, felt like a branding iron claiming Andy's soul. He was being burned alive, cleansed of his centuries of cold detachment.
The room still reeked of bleach and sweat, the scent acting like a heavy aphrodisiac that filled Andy's lungs and clouded his mind. He was drowning in it, drunk on the sensory overload. The girl next door, his carefully laid plans, his thirst for blood—all of it ceased to exist. The entire universe shrank to the dimensions of this bed, to the heat of Lucas's mouth, and the desperate, aching need building in Andy's core.
Lucas pulled back, his lips swollen, a wicked, triumphant grin on his face. He reached over to the nightstand, grabbing a bottle of lotion, flipping the cap with his thumb.
"Turn over," Lucas commanded.
It wasn't a request. It was an order from a master to a thrall.
Andy didn't hesitate. The creature of the night, the apex predator, obeyed the teenage boy instantly. He rolled onto his stomach, burying his face in the pillows that smelled sharply of Lucas. He gripped the sheets in his pale fists, his muscles tense, waiting.
He felt Lucas part his thighs, settling between them. The slick, cold shock of the lotion was instantly warmed by Lucas's fingers as they pressed against Andy's entrance.
Andy gasped into the pillow, his hips giving an involuntary twitch. He had spent centuries penetrating others, taking what he wanted, breaking boundaries. The sensation of being opened, of being prepared to take someone else, was entirely alien, terrifying, and profoundly erotic.
"Relax," Lucas murmured, leaning down to press a hot, wet kiss to the center of Andy's back, right between his shoulder blades. "I know you're dead, but I'm going to make you feel alive tonight."
Lucas slid a finger inside him. Andy groaned, a long, drawn-out sound of helpless pleasure. Lucas was slow, deliberate, stretching him, massaging the internal muscles until Andy was practically writhing on the bed, his ancient dignity completely dissolved. He was a mess of breathless moans and trembling limbs, begging the boy for more.
"You want it?" Lucas taunted, adding another finger, his voice thick with his own dark arousal. "Say it, Andy. Tell me you want me to fuck you."
"I want it," Andy sobbed, the humiliation and the ecstasy wrapping around each other until he couldn't tell the difference. "God, Lucas, please. I want it."
"Good boy."
Lucas withdrew his fingers, positioning himself at Andy's entrance. He leaned his weight forward, and with a slow, agonizingly deliberate push, he sank into the vampire.
A jagged scream ripped from Andy's throat, muffled only by the pillow he was biting down on. The stretch, the fullness, the searing, unbelievable heat of Lucas inside him was a thousand degrees of pure, unadulterated sensation. It felt like being impaled by a stake, but instead of bringing death, it brought a blinding, terrifying rush of life.
Lucas let out a harsh, guttural groan, dropping his weight fully onto Andy's back, his chest slick with sweat pressing against Andy's cold skin. "Fuck, Andy... you're so tight. You're so perfect."
Lucas began to move. Slowly at first, pulling back until he was almost out, and then driving deep inside again. Every thrust sent shockwaves through Andy's body. His fangs extended fully, tearing into the pillowcase, his eyes squeezed shut as the pleasure short-circuited his brain.
The rhythm increased, the heavy slap of Lucas's hips against Andy's thighs echoing in the room like a drumbeat. It was rough, demanding, and utterly consuming. Lucas was claiming him, breaking him down, forcing the ancient creature to submit to the raw, visceral power of human lust.
Andy's hands scrabbled blindly, reaching back to grip Lucas's thighs, holding him flush against his body as the boy hammered into him. The friction was maddening. The heat was unbearable. Andy felt a climax building inside him, a dark, explosive pressure that had nothing to do with blood and everything to do with the boy who was currently destroying his entire worldview.
"Lucas," Andy choked out, his voice wrecked, tears of pure physical overwhelm pricking at the corners of his eyes. "Lucas, I'm—"
"Go," Lucas growled, his hands gripping Andy's hips, his fingers digging into the pale flesh hard enough to leave bruises that would take days to heal. "Let it go, Andy. Give it to me."
With a final, desperate cry, Andy shattered. The climax ripped through his undead body with the force of a supernova, a blinding, scalding rush of release that purged him of his centuries of cold detachment. He came hard into the sheets, his body bowing backward, every muscle locking up in a spasm of agonizing pleasure.
A moment later, Lucas let out a breathless, roaring shout, his hips stuttering against Andy's as he emptied himself deep inside the vampire. The heat of it pooled in Andy's core, a burning, undeniable claim that anchored him to the present, to this room, to this boy.
They collapsed against each other, a tangle of hot sweat and cold skin. The heavy, ragged sound of Lucas's breathing was the only noise in the room, a stark contrast to Andy's eerie, satisfied silence.
For a long time, neither of them moved. The smell of bleach and sweat was stronger than ever, thick and heavy in the air.
Slowly, Lucas rolled off, settling onto his back beside Andy. He reached out, his warm hand finding Andy's cold one, intertwining their fingers.
Andy turned his head, looking at the boy staring up at the ceiling. The monster that had climbed the trellis an hour ago was dead. The 1950s greaser, the cold-blooded predator, the hunter—all of it had been sacrificed on the altar of a teenage boy's bed.
In its place was something new. Something vulnerable. Something that finally, truly understood what it meant to hunger for another person, not to destroy them, but to be destroyed by them in return.
The wrong window had been the only right one.
"So," Lucas said softly, a tired, cocky smile playing on his lips. "You going to stay, or do I need to start locking my window?"
Andy squeezed the boy's hand, his dark eyes softening, losing their predatory edge.
"I'm staying," Andy whispered, the truth of it settling deep in his chest. "I'm not going anywhere."
The heavy silence of the bedroom was eventually broken by the soft, rhythmic sound of Lucas tracing the intricate lines of the ouroboros tattoo on Andy’s neck. The teenager’s fingers were still blazing hot against Andy’s pale, cooling skin, drawing lazy circles over the ink.
They were tangled together in the ruined sheets. Andy lay slightly turned on his side, his head resting near Lucas's shoulder, completely stripped of the imposing, predatory aura he had carried for three centuries. The air still carried the sharp, unmistakable tang of bleach and sex, but it was settling now, becoming the permanent scent of his defeat—and his profound, unexpected relief.
Lucas shifted, propping himself up on one elbow to look down at the vampire. His dark hair was a mess, his chest still flushed, and the smug, victorious grin on his face was blinding in the dim light.
"See? I'm better than my sister," the younger man said, his voice thick with unearned, absolute confidence. He looked incredibly proud of himself. "I knew I could get you if I just had a chance."
Andy huffed a quiet, breathy laugh. He tilted his head, letting Lucas's fingers trail down his jawline. Old habits died hard, and a flicker of the ancient, possessive hunter flared up in his chest. He reached up, his cool fingers wrapping loosely around Lucas’s warm wrist.
"Yes," Andy murmured, his dark eyes flashing as he tried to claw back a fraction of his usual dominance. "You're mine now."
Lucas let out a bark of laughter, completely unfazed. He pulled his wrist from Andy's grip and playfully shoved the vampire's bare shoulder, pinning him flat against the mattress.
"Ha! Check your privilege, Andy," Lucas retorted, his grin drawing even smugger, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "I think you'll find you are mine now."
Andy blinked, the sheer audacity of the boy momentarily stunning him into silence.
"Though," Lucas continued, tapping his chin thoughtfully as he straddled Andy's hips once more, "it's going to make Sunday dinners with Mom kind of awkward when I explain how I stole you from my sister. I mean, passing the mashed potatoes while she glares daggers at us? Classic."
Andy stared up at the boy, the words sinking in through the haze of post-coital bliss. Sunday dinners. Explaining it to Mom. For three hundred years, Andy had existed on the fringes of human lives. He took, he fed, he vanished before the sun came up. The concept of tomorrow, let alone a domestic Sunday evening, was utterly foreign to him.
"You're developing plans..." Andy realized in shock.
The greater shock, the one that made his undead heart give a phantom flutter, was that he actually didn't mind the plan at all. The idea of sitting at a brightly lit suburban table, enduring the mundane chaos of a family dinner just so he could feel Lucas's knee pressing against his under the table, sounded intoxicating.
"Oh yes," Lucas said, leaning down until his nose brushed against Andy's. His breath was warm, smelling of sweat and skin. "As I said, mine now. And I plan on keeping you, now I know I have exactly what you need."
Lucas punctuated the statement by grinding his hips down slightly. The friction sent a sharp, agonizingly good jolt straight through Andy's core, proving the boy's point effortlessly. Andy's breath hitched, his eyes slipping shut for a fraction of a second as his cold hands instinctively found the curve of Lucas's waist.
"You're a cocky little shit," Andy groaned, the insult utterly devoid of venom. It sounded more like a prayer.
Lucas chuckled, a low, vibrating sound that rumbled against Andy's chest. He leaned in, his lips brushing over the shell of Andy's ear, his teeth grazing the sensitive skin.
"I'm a horny one, too..." Lucas whispered.
Andy opened his eyes, meeting the dark, hungry gaze of the teenager above him. The ancient vampire felt the last, lingering shards of his former self completely disintegrate. He didn't need it anymore. He arched his back, pressing himself up into Lucas's heat, completely ready to let the boy prove it all over again.
