An elderly man hires Hollis to drive him across England to a retirement home. But the journey becomes a pilgrimage through a hidden life—a lost lover, a family's betrayal, and a final, defiant act. As Arthur's story unfolds, Hollis sees his own fears reflected back. A quiet, devastating story about the cost of waiting too long to be brave.

This is an interesting, eventually upbeat tale of a needed car trip and important lessons learned for a better life. Hollis an uber driver, takes an old man, Arthur, on a long ride to his care facility where the man expects to end his life. Both are gay men. Hollis learns about the good and bad choices Arthur said he made and how he handled his last family member

You will feel for the joys and pains of Arthur and be glad Hollis listened to him and began better to take charge of his life. The trip is not without surprises. He has to make decisions regarding his own partner
