Joshua Miles - 26. Epilogue

Late December, all three spent two wonderful weeks together at Scott’s family home, further consolidating their relationship.

Mid January they took off for Bali, a trip fully funded by Scott’s parents. They were pleased to see their son in a relationship, albeit a little different, but his happiness was what mattered most to them.

Malcolm spent his eighteenth birthday in Bali including receiving his gift from the other two, nipple piercing and a piece of jewellery, obtained much more cheaply than at home.

Upon return from Bali, all three set about looking for part-time work to supplement their student allowance and provide living expenses.

Scott, having given up competitive swimming, secured a position as an assistant swim coach and part-time swimming instructor for young children.

Malcolm took a position with a fast food outlet.

Joshua signed on as a trainee waiter at a restaurant called Poppys on Flinders.

After his interview he said to his partners “You should have seen the guy who interviewed me, a body to die for”

“You saw his body at a job interview” Malcolm asked

“You couldn’t miss it. He apologised for not dressing properly as he just arrived from the gym. Had a tee shirt so tight, it must have been painted on. I could see every muscle and ripple, even his nipples stood out. And I think they were pierced. When Justin stood up to say goodbye I noticed the gym shorts were just as tight as his shirt. I’m going to enjoy working there”.

After they all secured part-time employment they set about looking for a flat to share. While the family homes were all only a bus ride from their tertiary institutions, they loved each other so much they wanted to spend as much time together as possible.

They found a flat in a nearby suburb and furnished it with spare items from their family homes, except for one. They insisted on each contributing equally to the purchase of a king size bed.

Early February university offers were made and each was pleased with their offer.

Scott was to study medicine at Sydney University.

Joshua went for engineering at the University of New South Wales.

Malcolm commenced the study of computer science at the University of Technology.
