January; The Beginning and the End
January is named for the Roman god Janus, who was the patron of beginnings, endings, and the nature of a doorway or threshold. The Janus Society was an early homophile organization out of Philadelphia in the 1960s and was one of the earliest organizations of gays, lesbians, and gender non-conforming people of the era.
