Although the French the bibli in the word for library, bibliotheque, the actual basis for bibliophile is Greek. 

It is a combination of the Greek word biblion (book) and philos (loving).

I wonder if they'll continue to use this term now that we're in the digital age and more reading is being done online and people are collecting e-books instead of actual books.  Will the word become e-bibliophile?
