We are very familiar with -ologist to refer to someone who studies a particular thing. In this case the thing is obviously cardio-. Cardio in turn comes from the Greek kardia, which means "heart".

Of course now "cardio" can refer not just to the heart itself, but to the exercises that are supposed to help keep your heart healthy.

Cardiologist was one of the few ologists that I didn't refer to in yesterdays post and I hope it stays that way.  

A cardiologist is a doctor that specializes in the care of the heart and blood vessels, but a cardiologist may also specialize in a specific area, such as heart failure, abnormal heart rhythms, or heart problems people have had since birth. 

I'm monitored by a cardiologist, have been for about 5 years. I have high cholesterol to go with that.
