The earliest known use of the noun laxity is in the early 1500s. OED's earliest evidence for laxity is from 1528, in a translation by Thomas Paynell, translator. laxity is a borrowing from French.

Here we have a word that you need to be careful and not confuse it with laxative.

Laxity in attention could result is taking a laxative instead of your pain medication. The problem is that when you do that shit happens.

You might also think that someone might confuse the word laxity with lacrosse, since it's abbreviated as lax.  Therefore, someone might think that laxity is the act of playing lacrosse.

Ahh, now lax  (not the airport) means without much care, attention, or control. I'm not familiar with lacrosse but I gather that you cannot be lax or even exhibit laxity  while playing.
