C James Posted July 30, 2010 Share Posted July 30, 2010 She's 14... I don't know what route she's planning, but I sure as heck hope she's going to stay out of the southern ocean! Personally, I think 14 is too young. She was stopped by a court over a year ago, at barely age 13, when she was about to sail. At this rate, we'll see babies with sales rigged to their bassinets heading out to circumnavigate within a few years. Circumnavigation can be dangerous... The fatality rate is only about one to two percent, but the odds go way up for the inexperienced. There's a world of difference between coastal sailing and open ocean passages. Link to comment
