horror Horror Game Advice?

Okay, I'm trying to work on a suspense kind of horror but I don't want it to involve blood but more of the unsettling vibe of something wrong with a place.

I'm limited to side-scrolling pixel-based art but most of it, I'll be making on my own.

It's that or I write a text-based horror game that will be very vivid and will only provide backdrops of the area.

A few games come to mind, but what would you guys suggest?
