  1. 1. Is Leia a Disney Princess?

    • No, the Star Wars Universe is separate from Disney’s universe.
      3

    • Why are you asking questions about Disney Princesses when Transwomen of Color are being murdered?

    • She would have been, but Jar Jar messed up the paperwork. (Thus creating the inadvertent secret, the heretofore unknown Princess Jar Jar.)

    • No, Disney should not encourage girls (and boys) to fantasize about silly pageantry and outdated ideas. Children should not be encouraged to need rescuing.

I'm going to risk sounding really nerdy right now.

But no, and for the same reason that Giselle isn't a princess from Enchanted, it would be too hard to pay for royalties to the actors who portray them, etc. Not to mention, I don't consider Star Wars to be Disney despite being owned by Disney. Just opinion.

She's just a princess, who happens to be in a Disney movie property.

Leia is grandfathered out with Lucas films.

Also, if you take that approach, should we consider Star Wars Cartoons or the Marvel Cartoons characters on Disney to pass as canonical princesses:

I dunno. She kind of fits right in . . . except for the hunting blaster.

Didn’t Merida run around with a bow and arrows?

And besides, was’t Leia’s cutting wit at least as dangerous as her blaster shots?  ;-)
