Welcome to the place to bring all Q&A and general discussion for The Legend of Fred Krueger!

Posting Schedule: The plan is to post a new chapter once a week on Saturday. If I can't meet that deadline, I'll put notice here.

It's been a long time since I've told a tale, so please forgive me if I'm a little rusty, and this story is not like my others. There are no sexual relationships or anything of that nature in this tale. It's simply a story meant to tickle your scary bone.

Big apologies for not being able to post yesterday (8/23/25), but Chapter Three of The Legend of Fred Krueger has been uploaded. I hope those who have read it are enjoying it so far!

Chapter Seven of The Legend of Fred Krueger has been added. Apologies for the day lateness. I am considering switch the post date to Saturday instead of Friday.

Good Friday everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I'll no longer be updating the story on Friday. Updates will now happen on Saturday. So see you tomorrow with Chapter 8!

Big apologies everyone for no update this weekend (10/4-10/5). I had an unexpectedly busy week and weekend and it didn't leave me any time to finalize the chapter and send it out. Rather than upset the schedule anymore than it's already been, I'll be posting Chapter 9 this upcoming Saturday (10/11/25).

Apologies for the 2 weeks of radio silence. I just could not find time to show the story some love. I wasn't sure if the new chapter would be ready for Halloween 2025 or not, so I figured better to say nothing and surprise, rather than say something and disappoint because I couldn't meet the deadline.  Chapter 10 has been posted to The Legend of Fred Krueger. Happy Halloween to all you boils and ghouls out there!

Good lord did I miss that November 15th release date! I do apologize for that. I haven't had the spare time I was hoping I'd have to work on this story, thus the missed date. But, there's also something else.

I'm at a crossroads on this story and I'm wondering if I should even continue it. With the changes to GA, I've come to see that the majority of the readers of this story were non-members. Now that one must be a member to read Mature rated stories, the readership has dropped into the gutter.

Personally, I'm one to play to an audience of 1 as if it were 1,000, because if at least 1 person feels the story then I've got an audience. But, I get the feeling that this story is missing the mark because it's not of the "traditional" type. And that's my fault. This story was an experiment to see if it could survive off the merits of being written by an author who's not entirely straight, rather than it being reflected in the story. But, from what I've seen, that won't do.

I hate to put this to a vote, but I have to because I need to know. Should I continue The Legend of Fred Krueger or should I not? Votes for not will draw no malice.

As a huge fan of Nightmare On Elm Street, and someone who thinks Dream Warriors is the best horror movie of all time, I was hesitant to dive into your story. And not because I was worried you'd ruin my nostalgia for Freddy. I read the description and wasn't interested based on the ages of your protagonists.

But when I read this comment, I read the first five chapters of your story. If I was going to comment, then I needed to have a good foundation on what your story was about.

I know you believe that the new guidelines are the reason your readership is down. But after reading the first five chapters, I'm a bit confused why this story is rated Mature. I know there are six more chapters I have not read, but maybe the rating is mistaken.

I reread GA's guidelines, and I did not see anything in the first five chapters to warrant a mature rating. And if there is, I recently saw there is a choice, Mature rating or Members Only Mature rating. I think that means, you can choose Mature or members only.

I've seen a huge drop in readership since this new protocol came into affect. But my stories are rated mature because they have graphic descriptions of sex, suggestive language, and lots of underage drinking and drug use. Not to mention, I'm a horrible writer. But I do not focus on readership. I simply write the stories I want to tell.

With all these new restrictions on "saving" minors from accessing bad content, would a change of rating prove beneficial to the story you are attempting to tell? Maybe look over the guidelines and figure out if your rating is the correct rating.

In the times we are having to navigate, as creative people, individually we need to evaluate the pros and cons of writing a story that might be restricted.

I don't care if my readership drops because of these new guidelines. My stories are silly with mature themes by design. I chose to write a story that should be flagged as mature. Those are the stories I am purposefully wanting to tell.

Sometimes my stories work, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes I go against the trends, and sometimes my stories suck because they don't connect with readers. But I chose to write those types of stories on purpose. And if they don't find an audience, that's okay because I'm enjoying sharing these stories with the few dozen who reads my stories. I'm not going to change what I want to create.

At the end of the day, I focus on creating the best I can and let the chips fall where they may.

If this story didn't work to your expectations, learn from what you think worked, what didn't work, and come back stronger than before. If you look at other stories written in the genre you chose, they don't have massive readership either. Please don't get discouraged, don't let small readership sway you from what you enjoy doing.

Everyone has hits or misses. The important thing we can learn, we grow, we get better based on failures than we ever do by finding a story that is successful. I'd say continue doing what you are doing. Create stories, this world needs more storytellers. And if you feel this one didn't connect, try again with some other idea. I urge you to continue to create. That's my vote.

Write what you want to write!

At the same time, I would advise on finishing what you start.

I do not read in progress stories anymore, because, for me, twice a good story was not completed. Why should readers invest into a story when the authors do not?

All your other stories are on long term hold, so for me, the chances are high, this one might not be completed either. Therefore  I will not look at it right now.

Thank you very much for your response and feedback Jason RimbaudI'm a huge fan of A Nightmare On Elm Street too and, like you, Dream Warriors is also my favorite in the franchise.

Thanks for checking out the first 5 chapters (which I hope hit the mark) and I'm sorry the age of the characters put you off. I went younger because I felt the mid to late teens troupe had already been played out by the franchise.

The story was rated mature because of Chapter 7 and beyond. That's where the graphic violence and graphic acts start up, and Chapter 7 alone wouldn't let me get away with any rating except mature.

It sucks to know that the changes to GA are affecting the readership of all authors, but it does let me know that it's affecting everyone and not just this particular story.

Like I said before, even if I have an audience of 1, I'll play to it like it's 1,000. But I just wanted to make sure that I hadn't made a mistake by posting this story (due to it's nature), so I had to ask.

Thank you once again for everything you said. It helped very much in helping me make my decision. I will be continuing this story.

I totally understand where you are coming from. It's not a good time when a reader gets into a story, only to have it halt and never be completed. And to see that that's the situation with my past work, I can understand why you (or anyone else) wouldn't bother with this story.

I do plan to continue and finish this story, and there are also plans to continue and finish two of my previous stories. I know...all words until it's finally seen. So I'll just leave that at that.

Thank you once again for your words. They too have helped very much in making my decision.
