Casino Royale

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else had seen Casino Royale and if so what they thought about it.

Personally, I liked it, but that may have been because it had hold 'em poker and

a naked tied up

Daniel Craig. Both pluses in my book. It was less gadgety than the previous Pierce Brosnan films. He definitely had high-tech stuff, but not things like "here's a pen that can also shoot a laser and hack into a computer." It made it seem somewhat more realistic to me. I also may have enjoyed it because here in Thailand I go to the expensive ($6 US) theater and at those you get a leather recliner, a free drink, and a blanket.

Anyways, has anyone else seen it? What did you think?

I saw it yesterday. I liked it very much. For some reason every time they showed Daniel Craig shirtless, i wanted to be sucking or chewing on his nipples  . It also made me think i should learn poker (Yeah, I've been wanting to learn for quite a while now, but never got the chance to do so.

OMG I loved the scene where he was coming out of the beach with that tight-short swimming suit. The most funny (and painful) was with Le Ceffre (sp?) was swing that thing rope at the naked, tied-up Bond boys down there.

I love Texas Hold 'Em, but I don't know that it's what primarily Europeans would play in Montenegro. I love playing in casinos, while it's illegal here in Thailand, I've gone to Cambodia a couple of times where you have to be 18. I'll be old enough to hop over to Las Vegas when I go back to Phoenix in the summer.

The scene with the tight short bathing suit

in the trailer was the only reason I went, but the movie as a whole was good. The other scene you mentioned did make me cringe.

I just have to say, there is no Bond but Sean Connery. All the rest are imposters. :P

I hate Connery as Bond, he just annoys me. Pierce was my favorite, but now Daniel Craig is clearly the best.

How did they manage the handling of the Bond-cliches? Its said to be a new approach as to storyline, which interests me but I'm no Bond fan myself.

Can anyone comment on how close the movie is to the Ian Fleming original?

I thought the Bond cliches were very tastefully added in the right moments and tastefully done, even mocking them at times. This movie is set when Bond first acheives his double 0 status.

I don't know much about the original so I can't really comment.

Although the running time (2+ hours) could have been trimmed a little, I was totally taken with the newest 007 and the story. I'll go further to say that Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean....and I liked Pierce a lot.

The original series with Connery really seems dated and the situations are so 'over the top.' I liken the new approach the same way they re-charged the Batman franchise; more realistic. And Craig - in my humble, horny opinion - is very sexy.

Go see it this week!
