Hi, Bill.

I have been reading your story, Castaway Hotel. I do like the story, but I do have a problem with it.

Nick has contracted genital warts. In chapter 11, you state -

Boy on a String,

I researched this information at several sites, and none of them mentioned anything about catching the genital warts from the scrotum. They only suggested it would be spread via the penis, mouth, and anal cavity. If you have information I'm not familiar with, I'd be happy to check it out. Do you know this for a fact or is this just conjecture on your part? I will try to investigate this further.

Hmmm, Bill.

I know that herpis can be spread from the scrotum, and that the scrotum is part of the genitals.

It is conjecture on my part that general warts could be spread that way because of the fact that you have a part of the genitals touching another part of the genitals ... whether that be a scrotum or a vagina.

Nick did have warts on his scrotum, so this is an affected area. You have yet to say how they could be spread in your story, and I was unaware that oral sex would spread them to a persons mouth ... so oral sex is out (unless someone likes sucking on latex).

I will try to find out some more information.

I haven't done any research, but I'd think direct contact with the warts could cause infection.

Genitalia, including the scrotum, has a very thin skin, which makes it easier to absorb whatever there is to be absorbed, into the blood (the penis itself has fairly thick skin, but often small fissures that can allow contact with blood).

Just some thoughts, the first to come up with some authorative research wins...

what would you do, put a zip-lock bag on his scrotum??

Bill, that is the problem. The government has promoted this safe sex thing through condums, either ignoring or burying the facts ... one in three condoms have holes big enough to leak the hiv virus. One in ten condoms have holes big enough to impregnate a female partner. And any VD that requires genital contact to spread can be spread even though a man/boy is wearing condums because they don't cover/protect the scrotum.
