Well that narrows down part of the issue. I mean divorce was all but forbidden by the church. The remaining questions though remain an issue. Especially getting outed to the Duke!

WELL, back from Berlin and really anticipated having the chance to read the lates chapter and to find a feast of comments about it. Well the first part is true enough. I just had the chance to read it and WOW! I can't wait to find out about Freddie. This can't destroy the relationship between he and Granger. He's the one Granger is meant to grow old with. It just is. At least that's my hopes. He's been one of my favorites. So the questions are really will it become public or not; will Cavendish and Granger's relationship survive this and finally what will Caroline do about this. One disturbing bit is the possibility of her reputation being damaged beyond repair. Will she give Granger up to his father if he privately attacks her? Will his propensity for men become known to his father and will it make a difference in how proud he is in George? This has the possibility of a serious domino effect for George. Are there no other opinions or is everybody still holding their breath waiting for the other shoe to drop? Nice writing Mark. I'm not sure I like the dark direction so much because it dashes my hopes for the future. But . . . you have a wonderful gift of story development.

regarding the roll of man and wife. lets not forget two things here. first, granger is ahead of his time second is that granger and caroline are not in a normal relationship. the problem as I see it is this. they were seen by gossips and she did not bury her pride to notify him of the possible damage to the family name. and waiting to tell him gave the footman time to tell others. Its an easy enough fix. hand the footman over to the press to shut him up and have a serious conversation with caroline. if granger plays the daddy card too much she may get pissed enough to out george to daddy in her own defense. I don't know how well this would play out.

Well done. Now that his old man doesn't have to worry about him "becoming" gay he seems to be coming to terms with it. Perhaps there is a loving father in there after all. I can't help but wonder what made him step outside to talk to Robert. I suspect he is making arrangements for the boys to be together. After all, they are going to be together one way or another and I think they realize that clandestine meetings would put them in an unsafe area. It shows his position is shifting into one of protector. I think that's why he asked where. This was a very emotional chapter and I've enjoyed it tremendously. You've kept it so very real and true to life in everything about it. As always, I look forward to your next chapter. Thanks for sharing the gift of your craft with us.

Truly some hot material. I think you probably melted some keys on your keyboard with some parts of this. No wonder it took so long to craft. You'd go back to reread what you had written and uhm . . . got distracted. lol Caroline is as hot and randy as George. Provided he can silence the footmen I think he will have to be yet forgiving again. He has a long voyage with Treadway to get over it. Provided Lady Elgin can be mollified Well done.

I disagree. Such a conversation might bring out certain members of the brotherhood. Namely Cavendish! I think that unless this bears fruit it will be largely forgotten except for the confrontation with Caroline. Something that can now be done. If there is to be a little Freddie then things might get a little heated. But I can not see George getting vexed with Cavendish. He loves him too much. I think that Freddie Granger and Treadway might have to try a bit of three way fun when he returns. This does not explain what happened to Arthur though. Has he lost interest in his sweed? Is the madness upon him again?

If its ready then fire! I'll be in transit to Berlin on friday. Buenos Aires sucked BTW.
-
Oh I don't know. Every woman likes a beautiful hat and a good deal. lol And Caroline has always been a bit of a rebel.
-
Well the Grangers have ALWAYS been ahead of their times. Look at the baths, the stove in his great room, the iron water storage tanks, the boat davits. So why not a hat shop in Piccadilly? Perhaps she was responsible for the circus. Oh YE of little faith. A Masterful Mark could write that in easily.
-
Perhaps she lost a sum to Treadway on the tables at her newly invested casino and the payback he demanded was a posting to Granger's ship! Now how could she tell George that!
-
It's not the event that has George so vexed. It's that she will not confide in George. So far there has been nothing kept between them. And I again think she made a pass at him and he could not perform because he too enjoys men. I think he made her give her word of silence. So she has, at great cost kept her word. I think George will find out from Treadway and will understand her position. Especially as he studies Treadway's position over him while driving home his point! It shall be a wonderful trip delivering the Elgins to their new post. I think George COULD have been more oblidging however. He could have hired a barge to drag behind them that he could construct a palace of sorts for this crazy wench. I think her husband might of been favorably amused at the idea.

A wonderful chapter. I enjoyed it tremendously. I knew the King had not succumb to foul play. But I was delighted to hear that he ventured away to speak and listen to his men regale him with their stories. Can you imagine the impression it made on them? It humanized him and endeared him to them. And that the king would venture so far into the land of stench, even with Granger's propensity to keep the bilge as clean as possible, says much about this king. And these sailors will have tales to tell than no other can match. Just the fact that they were all seated in the presence of Royalty! Let alone conversing with him privately. I would venture to say these men now have loyalty to their sovereign and to Granger that would be matched on no other ship in his kings Navy. Well done in this moving story. I'll reserve the rest of my comments for the forum. Cheers r

I guess that means my crystal gazing was off the Mark? Pardon the pun. I thought it was pretty good actually.
-
I really figured there would be a lot of discussion on this one. Where is everybody.
-
So perhaps he was actually going to choose him as her rider? Perhaps he will ride yet. Another great chapter to this incredible story. I am working now on my own story, the sequel to the one I have in print. And my son and I are discussing the world and the dragons. Magical or not, color magically significant or by species. There is so much to consider. You have everything so well balanced and thought out. I am experiencing how much planning and consideration has to go into this. Masterfully well done David.

THANKS Mark, I'm feelin' the buz. I mainlined it, snorted it then printed it out and smoked it. I think I'm gonna make it now. Phew! That was close. By the way. Never try and use copier paper for rolling. It really sucks and not in a good way. Having said that one has to wonder about why Caroline withheld the information. Perhaps it wasn't her's to tell? And talk about a Royal Cliffhanger! Or perhaps a Royal PAIN in the cliffhanger if you're just a reader. You simply Rock Mark. Writing an unprecedented event like this had to be taxing. I expected to see a contingent of guard boats and an entourage and a royal taste tester. But maybe I've seen too many movies.lol I mean those were much simpler times and no one would think of disrupting a royal event let alone accosting the king. So perhaps it would have been that spartan of retinue. And of course deck space and dinner seating was a premium so I'm sure that it was severely restricted as to the size of his party by shear necessity. Besides, this was, by design to honor George, not the King. Well done. I do miss Freddie. He is one of my favorites. Maybe George will be sent to retrieve him.

Hey when I was at the Royal Garden Palace in Vienna I found a 500 Euro note on the floor. If someone can misplace that then a Sovereign isn't anything right? Well you did promise us a cliff hanger. I'm going to gaze into my crystal ball and speculate. I think he went below to: Take part in some kingly business like signing papers or using the royal privy OR he went to speak to Granger's chef to wisk him away which of course would add greatly to Granger's already foul mood. It's also possible he is preparing some honor to bestow on Granger or his ship for hosting him and of course to show his favor upon his golden boy. Another possibility has occurred to me. Being that close to the water, the King's gout may have acted up and perhaps the good doctor made him a Crocus tea (Colchicine ) which was commonly used by this time in London for it's treatment. I do not, for an instant believe it could possibly be foul play as someone would ALWAYS be with the king. Had there been something amiss it would have been heralded loudly and everything would have stopped. Additionally that would have taken the story a long ways from History which is something Mark is wont to do. I am surprised that the Royal prince has not become a little jealous of Granger because it almost appears his father cares more for Granger than him. I think Granger will have to walk carefully around him for a bit. I'm gazing deeper into the crystal at this moment and I see that Caroline and Treadway met at the casino. She made a pass at him and he confided that his taste was not for women. So it was Caroline who wrangled him onto George's ship. I hope LeFavor knows how to tenderize crow. Just my thoughts. And Mark, thanks for having the king come to the ship. It was kinda the ultimate compliment the king could pay to a captain.

No Way could you stop at thirty. A hit squad would have been out for ya. And I agree, I think 40 or even 41 with an epilog is a nice sounding number. You still have some drama to clear up. Clinton is not his only heartthrob! And we need to see CJ get the rest of what's coming to him. Corey's Dad still needs to show the world that he loves his son. He may not accept his lifestyle but blood is thicker than water. I think it's safe to say that CJ won't be a football hero this year. And how will his dad try and save his ass on election day? Perhaps by throwing his son to the wolves? Politician eat their young don't they? What will happen at school? Hmmmm, a pink locker is a given. I hope they don't do the syrup in the locker. I hated that. Got on EVERYTHING. Was hell to clean up. My books were sticky the rest of the year. It was a constant reminder. Almost like they did it to me daily. Oh shit, did I say ME? Oh no,no,no I meant the kid in the locker next to mine, ya, that's it. A great chapter and I can't wait for the rest. Not so long this time ok? Hugz. r
