  1. what a bizarre concept...... for me "life" is what you do when you run out of fantasy.......
  2. re your first point: I have to disagree there; the word "doormat" comes to mind! - no basis for a relationship. 2nd point - yes I agree - I think they are more similar than different - the differences are exacerbated by Brad being the narrator. 3rd point - whole-heartedly agree!!
  3. I have a son exactly your age - and I'll have to admit nothing (and I mean NOTHING) made me feel old as when my son said to me in one of his (rare) deep-and-meaningfuls that he thought now that he is "old" he realises "old" is better....... I asked him what that made me - he said "my dad"....... Youth is so wasted on the young - but then it also gives us "oldies" something to lust after!! BTW in response to the poll, I firmly agree in the 1/2 + 7; a body you can keep up with and a mind you can engage = perfection!!!
  4. While I agree whole-heartedly that there are Tim-like ministers/priests/church-figures, there are an awful lot of the other of the "religious asshole" variety. I, too, like that your Tim is a liberation-theology character. I never understood why the mainsream catholic church didn't take to this stream; of all the ways to attract new accolytes, freeing them from political and/or economic tyranny would seem to have no downside. I would imagine that Tim is going to run up against his church heirachy in a big way - which could cause a crisis for him; making him leave the church and fall into the arms of a waiting man.... and which man do you think will be there waiting??????
  5. I know what Mark M means - Granger chapters may be as long as Millenium, but the Granger chapters are more dense. They do take longer to read.
  6. I have no problem with Mark , having a str8 narrator, and the str8 sex is neither here nor there for me (been there done that prefer the alternative), I still would like it to be about the relationships betwen the gay characters. Now no matter how great Mark is, I am not sure a str8 narrator could be belivable or interesting about the gay characters. that is to say the narrators interest in the others would be as relations etc and not in a "gay" sense...... I have a feeling I am not being clear or getting my point across here. Also, all I maybe demonstrating is why I am not an author and Mark , is! so I think I'll just leave this discussion tomothers and ahould a str8 narrator turn up be prepared to be impressed, as ever!
  7. I think that brunette in front needs to be punished for not being appropriatley dressed. (he has a button undone ..... send him to me and i will look after the punishment...... I may even send him back afterwards......
  8. I think you have hit the proverbial nail; re Matt, and it also explains why so many teenagers and 20's consider themselves bi - physically they enjoy sex with all and sundry. as they get older they realise other things make one sex more attractive that the other. Of course, some are attracted by the person and not their sex..... It is interesting to speak of people of JJ's generation (ie my own two sons); "gay" is like "sick", the former has no reference to sexuality the latter no reference to health. Given both my boys went to all-male boarding schools where you'd expect homophobia to be rife, the school made sure it was a non-event. It may be the same for JJ & Will - if so Mark , would have to find some way of juicing their stories up!!
  9. I admit to agreeing with Tiger re labels and Mark re Matt. the "bisexual" label has always confused me. If someone uses it about themself, it gives me a some understanding of where they see themselves, however when it is applied by someone to a third person it tends to tell me more about person applying the label more than the person labeled.
  10. I share your concern. And I can imagine that it will be a horrible ending: Carson's going to be revealed for the snake that he is. For all the reasons you mention Brad will find himself in a spot that he is really enjoying physically, emotionally and physcologically. The dark side is that Robbie is neither part of it nor offers anything more other than history and as the children grow that history will become less relevant to his day-to-day........Brad will realises that the priest offers a mature friendship with benefits, an dthat he can get everything else that he wants elsewhere. messy, messy, messy.
  11. My very dearest Mark, , you have excelled yourself!! between the latest Granger (he's really establishing hinmslef a good network in the fleet, isn't he?) and the "other" story, you are bloody marvellous; how does your beloved cope with all these comments which must swell your head...... .. As far as Grainger, I think he may need to get a note back to his wife to "fix" the political mess he is obvioulsy going to create while under Jervis. I look forward to 31.... and I agree re Tiger's image.....
  12. Sorry, just googled "Johnny Weir" and that was one of the images...... as I have no idea who JohnnyWeir is I had to trust the technology..... Is JJ still only 13??? I imagined he was older....... You'll see I have deleted the image....
  13. If JJ looks like Johnny and they skate against eachother, won't it look like identical twins on the ice?
  14. Image deleted......... I had forgotten JJ is still only 13..... he seems to have been around for longer......
  15. I do so love the young - they are SO open to guidance...... dear dear Mark M..... where would be be without you.......
  16. yep, carbon copy of every minister I have ever known.....

I am sorry I didn't get to see these "racy" images - I am presuming we are not talking about full on penetrative sex involving several people of varying sexes are we? and anything short of that can been seen any and every day in the "straight" media.....
  18. in Australia we have BongBong - and the picnic races there are bloody marvellous! I don't have a basement either; but then neither do 80% of houses in Australia!
  19. My partner is French-canadian (from Ontario, so he's not Quebecois - for those that understand that sort of thing), the french-language thing is cute.... but like his kind he is a pompous sonofa... but lovely nevertheless.... I can recommend foreigners as lovers.....
  20. I doubt that Mark wants to go out on a limb with the hyper-conservative-christian thing; he's sort-of been there done that and after a while it starts looking like a witch-hunt. That said it would make sense for an ultra-conservative organisation to bankroll someone who already has the passion to go after "our" family......
  21. why? they are good together. they have "issues" and after that long in a relationship who doesn't! Just most of us don't turn around and suggest to our "partner" that we do a little sleepin'about.... something you can do in literature...... if you suddenly notice i stop contributing to this you'll know I suggested this to my beloved. his response would be seen at my beautiful and v over-the-top funeral.......
  22. if you need someone to carry your load, you know when I am..... Back on-topic....great chapter, Mark, neat twist to the story even if Brad is only sending Robbie on a wild-goose-chase. Though Robbie's last words imply we are about to find out something big......
  23. I'm not good at this "music for the moment thing", but I can magine "Always on my mind ", petshop boys for the times that Brad and Robbie speak on the phone usually just after sleeping with someone else..... it's earlier than 99, but , at least to my mind, it fits!!!
  24. OK, reviving an old post here, but as a Grainger fan , I am seriously suffering here, and I am sure there are one or two like me.... I know, Mark , you said you were "cruising the french coast" for "inspiration"(!), but while "inspiration" is looking after you, could you just toss us a morsel, something just to freshen the fantasy? please?
  25. "I am not alone" what a great story - well written, funny, quirky and yet in some way all about the seemingly eternal seach for ourselves... hmmm sounds a little maudlin.... so perhaps I'll leave it at "congratulations, very impressive "
