I've finally figured out what's wrong with Will!
-
Right. It's Wade's fault Will cannot have an adult conversation......
-
Another calm, rational adult walking on eggshells because of Will "The Volcano" Schluter.
-
First "lanyard", now "surfing tournament".... I hope Kai did well in his surf contest 🤣
-
OMG you've been gone from CA way too long... a "lanyard"? How about a leash? Good surfers who surf big surf now are wearing vests they can inflate if they are being held under too long.
-
I meant to mention this a few chapters ago.... for Zach being "deep in the closet" because of football, an inordinate number of people know he and Will are together.
-
Okay, let me make a new prediction.... Will is going to spend some time in Dallas (or Dallas, time in Will) 😲.
-
Will "Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do" Schluter has spent most of this book telling others what to do and manipulating them. I figure that was all sarcasm or TIC because obviously we are on the chain hill and because it's been a 17 chapter chain hill, the plunge is going to be spectacular. My head is firmly placed against the head rest to avoid whiplash.

I don't like a 16 year old with a fake ID getting hammered with his father and grandfather. I expect a 16 year old to want a fake ID, but I think the adults in his life should not be approving of it. As I've noted many times, I just don't see the attraction of getting drunk over and over and over.

Dude, Brad must have had some serious peyote and gone on a vision quest. All that was missing was five naked Native Americans in a sweat lodge. I've had some weird moments in dreams (sans peyote), but I think Brad got more out of his then I did of mine.

I don't remember a lot about this story, but I know it made my head hurt because it is so twisted and complicated. We are only 13 chapters in to an 85 chapter story. Even Margo Channing couldn't take it. She unfastened her seatbelt, grabbed a chute and jumped.

“Neither Will nor JJ wanted him to be involved,” Stef replied. “As he has not called to check up on them, I think that is a reasonable request.” No it is NOT a reasonable request. Did Wade and Matt call JJ or Will from their trip? Did Stef and John Paul from their trip? It isn't JJ or Will's call to make and since JJ and Will were targets, Brad could be too. Brad and Marc could be in danger. Will would go off the deep end if such a major even were kept from him.
-
It could have happened and it just didn't make it into the story, but surely JP would have called Brad since it is his kids being fucked with in an attempt to get at him. Brad himself could be in danger. And of course Will should have called him. Will gets pissed because Stef and Brad didn't tell him that Schluter-Caruthers was moving their office. This is a bit bigger than that. There isn't a main character adult in the entire CAP series that Will hasn't been pissed at, hasn't been rude to, doesn't think he is smarter than, doesn't think he is more right than and has treated badly, despite all the things they have done for him. Will manages to bring the characters together because they are all reading the script in front of them, not because Will is the magical Golden Child.

I see dead people. I thought Trevor was free and clear of Elizabeth? So that makes me think Alexandra, going after Brad's children. I am not sure Elizabeth cares enough about Mary Ellen to get rid of JJ as competition. And Julius I think is doping Zach.

This was a truly awesome chapter. Absolute mega drama, clearly something has Zach freaked out. But of course a new thing occurred to me reading the reviews. Where is Team Will to defend Will ruining three of Zach's tires? That it was obviously the only thing Will could do. It was the adult, mature action to take and really it was Zach's fault anyway.

What happens after Zach wakes up?

The third Jake is introduced in Chapter 1 of Poor Man's Son. He is one of Gathan's friends. I believe Will hooks up with him at some point. -
A well dressed, Division 1 Power Five football player, Stanford grad would have no problem getting a job in marketing (which means sales) in investment banking, investment management or commercial real estate. The hiring managers literally get hard when such guys walk in the door because they are everything the geeks wanted to be in college. Figure skating long had a reputation as the most corrupt of sports when it came to judging. In the two sports I am involved with, if the national office ever tried to interfere with officiating decisions there would be Hell to pay.

I've read every CAP story in the last three months. I was just going to read a couple to remind me of things relevant to The Gap Year, but I found in rereading Paternity that I needed to remember parts of Be Rad and The Land Whore and so on. I know there is another Jake out there, I just need to remember the story. -
John is a Stanford and whatever other faults Stanfurd has, they don't let in dummies, even if they are great athletes. If John had considered it for two minutes he'd have figured it out on his own. So could many others, in addition to those who know already. As said before, it is Brad who pays Will's credit card bills. So you acknowledge that Will is immature and doing things purposefully to goad Brad, primarily to interfere in Brad's life? Most of the money isn't his and it isn't his place to offer John a room in a family apartment, no matter how noble. Remember how pissed Will gets when others do things like that. Will didn't buy the house in Hawaii, Brad did with family money once he decided it was a good investment. And he is doing things to provoke Brad.

Who said water? You poach salmon in white wine, or possibly beer, depending on the flavor profile you want. I prefer my salmon smoked or cured (graved). Grilled is fine, so is raw, cured is the best.

Brad is restricting use of his jet, and using that FBO to remind Will that Will is the one who wanted independence. However Will wants "independence" at no cost, no pain. He still is dependent in where he lives, I am sure he doesn't wash his own clothes, we know he can't cook, clean his own room (change sheets, vacuum, etc) and he flies on private planes like he is paying for them. I think Brad is trying to give Will a dose of reality. Not because of the gay issue in 2003. Maybe because of his injury, but not his sexual orientation. What incredible insult to JJ, as he himself observed. He is a seasoned international traveler and didn't need someone to come get him. He was perfectly capable of booking his own flights or charter. It is another instance of Will inserting himself in someone else's business. There was zero need to charter a flight in the Bay Area to go to London. London has many fine charter companies, including the ones at the London City Airport. It makes all the sense in the world. Will does have his own money, but he doesn't use it. As Mark made clear, Brad pays Wills bills. That is why Will was so happy the 737 charter was so expensive. It is on a charge card Brad pays for. I think Brad cuts off Will's card, but then Stef gives him one. How does that help Will gain the independence he says he wants? You'd think Will would want to prove he is capable of getting along own his own as an adult, not dependent on people. The only person who would schedule a charter on his own without checking with Brad would be Will. Darius and JJ would ask Brad for use of his plane, as is proper, and if it wasn't available, they'd ask Brad for a charter, if it was important. It is an attempt by Brad to force Will into real independence. In the story, Brad had switched to this FBO recently. As far as we know, Stef is still using the other/old FBO. An emergency? What emergency would there be where a charter could not be found? Will found one easy enough for a non-emergency. The LOGICAL thing to do, if JJ needed help (he didn't), was to charter a jet from LCY either to the U.S. or Paris, to get JJ away from London. He didn't need to wait 12 hours for Will to get there, he could have been gone in less than 3 hours. Will chartering the jet from CA was for drama, which Will loves. I just threw up in my mouth a little. And he realized he really didn't need Will, even if he appreciated it. Who doesn't love poached salmon. Alex needs to handle Mary Ellen otherwise she will become her mother.

Jake Pike, Will's lawyer in Black Widow. There may even be a fourth Jake. -
You can fault Will because he is doing things that he demanded Brad not do, namely, help guide his life in a way he felt was better, healthier and more productive. Will is the one who kicked Brad out of his life. He should have zero expectations of a relationship with Brad strictly on terms he dictates. No, far too many think Will is wonderful and that is all Arbour's fault. Through brilliant writing and subtle nudges he getting the unwitting reader to be seduced by the man child. I have resisted the Siren's call. 😆 So Brad sells that condo, buys a whole building for himself and gets to decide personally who gets to buy in the building. Will isn't smarter than Brad. Let me reiterate once again how amazing and brilliant the writing is. It is not easy to write a story, keep so many people engaged and literally beg for more. The stuff with JJ and Alex was pure gold, helped along by the two of them appearing naked before the hungry paparazzi. The second brilliant part is to create a character such as Will that can be seen so differently by so many people. I thought was Will was at his despicable best in this chapter. He pries into his new lawyer's private life, something he gets incredibly nasty over when others do the same with his private life, then he lays out a plan to interfere with his father's life because he Will, has decided it is on a bad trajectory, again, something he gets incredibly nasty over when others do the same to him, and especially his father. Even if Will was 100% correct, it is still not his place to take these actions in light of his views as others do that to him.
-
The whole point of emancipation is to be independent of your parent, especially financially and one of the keys to granting that emancipation is the financial independence. If I was Brad, Will would be completely on his own, while I'd make a point of supporting JJ and Darius.

“When he blows all of us off, I think he needs someone to call him on it,” I said firmly. No he doesn't. He gets to do whatever the hell he wants and no one can tell him otherwise, especially you. You went ape shit when he tried to make you do what he thought was good for you, so you have zero business interfering in his life. “Then why are you so happy? A night with Cody is that restorative?” I teased. Again, none of your business. You give people withering looks and nasty tones when they enquire about your sex life. Why should anyone be open with you? I’d learned a long time ago that the key to success was having a well laid out plan. It had worked for me in my various battles with my father before, and I was confident that it would work today. With my father, in order to get his attention and shock him back to reality, you had to hit him with a Mack truck. If my plan worked, he’d be able to get some balance back into his life. If it didn’t, I’d at least have the fun of totally pissing him off. What Brad is doing in his life is simply none of Will's business. It MIGHT have been if Will accepted Brad's input on his life, but given Will's nasty, explosive reactions to such input, he forfeited any right to offer advice, let alone dictate to Brad what his behavior should be. The last comment was meant to be lighthearted I think, but I think it is a window into Will's immaturity.
