  1. One hint - Australians avoid the letter Z where possible - in most cases we replace it with the letter S. So its not Americanized is Americanised. I think this is because of the different ways we pronounce the letter (Here it is Zed not Zee). Also Australian Spelling and Grammar tend to follow the rules of UK English rather then American English, and our slang is also similar. Spelling and Grammar are complicated but the readers on here will normally be forgiving, just be glad you don't have to try and explain it to a bunch of bored six year olds like I do
  2. This is brilliant!! I took me forever to copy a story
  3. Just saw this Harry Potter one which I thought was cute
  4. Okay thanks for clearing that up, here we call that a fringe
  5. Same here. Although I have trouble with the American spelling (don't be scare of the u!) and slang. Coming from a neutral country I would like to put it out there that both countries produce some excellent writing and some great books/stories. By the way what are bangs??? I know they have something to do with hair but cannot for the life of me work out what would be called a bang... I might even have one or some
  6. I think that's from Fried Green Tomatoes, Mine is "Darling. I don't know how to tell you this, but there's a Chinese family in our bathroom." Just watched this movie last night and thought it was brilliant
  7. Don't know where abouts you live but all his books are available in my local library, and if you are not on the far north coast of NSW, you can order them through Borders who are normally pretty fast and relatively cheap. Haven't read the Rainbow series are they any good??
  8. Thats from A Room with a View isn't it? "Who's to say what's proper? What if it were agreed that 'proper' meant wearing a codfish on your head? Would you wear it?"

    Glee

Really enjoyed the finale!!! But did anyone else find Quinn's labour disturbing??? Did she really need to be singing along But I love the new version of Don't Stop!! No more Glee to September
  10. You can come to Australia if you want to cool down. Currently 10

    Glee

Loved the dancing pregnant girls!! And I agree "This is a Man's World" was excellent only the second time i've liked Quinn singing ( the first being say a little prayer). But I was very disappointed with Jesse, I always like a good bad guy but he was just nasty and I actually felt sorry for Rachael Looking forward to the next episode and hoping that "Don't stop believing" is used at regionals. Just read that they are adding a Christian member to Glee club next season who does't get along with Kurt (can see article here)
  12. I started with "The Ordinary Us" which is a good story but Quinn's issues may scare you off. I recommend starting with Desert Droppings it's a great story and Rory issues are so much more entertaining and lest angsty (if that is a word) then Quinns. I would also recommend avoiding The Other Side of Me, or at least leaving it to last! I still haven't forgiven Dom for that story!
  13. Just finished the book - in under one day, I know bit obsessive but it was brilliant and their is a sequel coming out latter this year
  14. It happened again, someone needs to teach that kid how to walk through a door http://www.youtube.c...h?v=-QjgbNXW_oM
  15. Just borrowed this book from the library and the librarian, who had bright pink curly hair, gave me a really weird look - like she was trying to work out why I was borrowing it Anyway am looking forward to starting it.

    Glee

Just watched "Theatricality" and I have to say how impressed I was with Kurts Dad! That was quite a speech he gave and it was great to see him defending his son. Am also loving Santana at the moment her Lady Gaga outfit was brilliant and it is great to hear her sing. Oh and Tina was brilliant as a vampire
  17. Thought I would resurrect this topic as I am looking for a good college based story - As for recommendations the only one that I can think of that hasn't been mentioned already is Noah and Jordan it is not yet finished and the author only updates every few months but it is a brilliant story with a good plot and likeable characters And I would also like to agree with MikeL ppete - Joe College is brilliant and I was so happy when he started updating it again recently and I enjoyed Whats up dude? Oh and the Peacher Series by Mike Arram is absolutely Brilliant! A number of the stories take place in Uni but there are also some high school and continuing relationship stories mixed into the series it can be found here
  18. That is brilliant!! Also suffering from a huge case of trustitis and just reread DD to get a Dom fix (and because I love Seth )
  19. Speaking as a teacher there are proven advantages and disadvantages for both co-ed and single sex education. Personally however I believe that co-educational school are better as they better prepare students for their 'real life'. The main thing that I got out of my four year uni course was that the main focus of education is to prepare students for life outside of school and a single sex system doesn't do this as effectively as co-ed schools as the community that is created is artificial and doesn't reflect that of the wider community. From personal experience boys are a lot nicer when girls are around. Every Wednesday all the girls in my class go to choir and the next 45 minutes are the worst of the week. Also I don't think I could have survived in a single sex school as all my friends are girls
  20. Just saw him on TV, he is brilliant!
  21. Just saw this interview that Justin Bieber did in New Zealand... http://www.youtube.c...h?v=HFVkHLT4wlI German? I don't know what that mean? We don't say that in America.
  22. Kittens, dogs are just so needy which I can't deal with for to long - but cats grow out of that
  23. Thanks for the advice guys have just finished two chapters but will wait until I have a bit more done before I start posting.
  24. Hey, I've just started writing a story and am worried about people understanding Australian English. For example in my first chapter I used the words lollies (sweets/candy) jumper (sweater) gaol (jail) as well as using the letter u (which seems to scare Americans ) I was wondering if anyone had any advice about whether I should try to make my story more 'internationally understandable' or should I risk it and just hope that some aspects don't just go over other people head?
  25. Those are some of my favourite shows (except Hannah Montana which is an evil evil show) However I have an excuse to watch them as I teach primary school (I actually use Phineas and Ferb in class)... so I need to keep up to date with what the kids like, right (thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it) However the most embarrassing show that I watch would have to be Gilmore Girls
