    Yes, Derek's car really was slashed. She did speak to him about it but I skipped the whole conversation and placed it as a paragraph in this chapter (summarized). And yes, she is having difficulty accepting what Derek has become (or is becoming). Derek's dad has issues with Derek' uncle which is why the latter hasn't met his nephew even after all those years. Doesn't mean it won't happen though. I *should* be able to update next Tuesday as I'm a few chapters ahead but we'll see.
