    CHAPTER 33: I Say Goodbye It was a Monday. Southmore High School had made it a holiday on account of the Valentine’s Day dance that happened the Saturday before. However, I highly doubted that anyone was still talking about the dance if the news on the television was any indication of interest. I have no idea if Sunday’s news was all abuzz about Luke’s murder but the local news channels couldn’t seem to talk about anything else come Monday.     I'm glad you liked the previous chapter. This chapter is sort of an oasis in the desert that Derek's life has become. Things have to get better somehow right? I mean it can't all be bad things.

    Well, sort of... maybe... And yes, I still have quite a bit to wrap up. Lengthy (and sometimes heated discussions) with the beta readers showed me what is or isn't needed in this story. I hope what's left in it is more than enough to satisfy your thirst for Charlie.

    I'm glad also that Andrew was able to show that to Derek. That's something I hoped people could pick up from this chapter. If it helps any, no, Charlie did not kill Luke. Sometimes I feel I did not give enough justice to the adults in this story. I guess it's harder for me to write because I am not yet at that point in my life where I'm responsible for my own kids or even the lives of anyone other than myself. Maybe some day I can redeem them in your eyes. Well, at least SOME of them... There is only one chapter left in Part Four. Some feelings, the murder, and the psychiatrist will be resolved before all this is over. The uncle though... well, let's just say he's a completely different story.

    The uncle got mentioned once during the flashback which I hope was not too long ago that he was already forgotten. Hehe. I can't comment on the uncle. However, the psychiatrist still has something up her sleeves (and it ain't a wiener). Yeah, the number of chapters left has been a point of discussion I'd been having with a few of the beta readers. We more or less agreed on something though... which I will elaborate on later. And you're welcome.

    That simply was not Andrew's way. It would be more like Rebecca to want to find out what happened (and consequently do something about it). Andrew's more the kind of guy who is there if you need him but will wait for you patiently to make the first move. Unfortunately, no, Mrs. H did not poison Mr. H. At "best", the food would only give him a very upset stomach.

    Well, for one, he probably did not want to get arrested for stealing his father's car. I'm glad you liked that bit about Andrew. There really wasn't a big conversation because big conversations felt out of character for our big guy. He's a different kind of conversationalist. Unfortunately, said conversation with uncle will not be narrated. It will more or less be summarized in the next chapter.

    Well, you are probably one of a few who suspected that about Andrew. He was uncomfortable letting Derek in primarily to the way the latter might react to meeting Mark. Apparently though, he had nothing to worry about. Also, the next chapter is the last chapter for Part Four.

    I don't think anyone will truly support a relationship between Travis and Charlie at this point. Haha. You'll know who Luke's killer is very soon. And thanks again for the praise.
