Hopefully the succeeding chapters will shed some light on the Elements. I touched on it in TSW but it wasn't the focus of that story so I did not expound on it too much. This direction of this story is different though.

I would just have to say that in my original plot of the story, a long, long time ago... one of them was totally straight.

Thank you Dennis! I'm glad to hear you liked Derek. He was fun (and at times difficult) to write. I'm glad the effort was well worth it reaching so many people. Oh, I did no such shameless plugging! *cough cough* Anyway, I hope you enjoy that other story too. It's less of an emotional roller coaster than this one but I think an overall fun read anyway.

I must admit that the ending is not the typical one you might find here in GA. I must say though that it wasn't exactly a sad one either. I leave their future to your hands (at least for the meantime). Hardcore romantics would probably take the final scenes as concrete proof of the path that lies ahead of them. There are still a lot of things ahead for Derek. Good things? Bad things? Probably both. Life is not perfect and he's just learning to take things as they come. P.S. One way or another, Derek's dad will get what he deserves.

Derek's dad has his own back story which I did not explore in "Charlie". I'm not quite sure yet if I will explore that avenue but it's something that might be open for the future.
