  1. Haha. No After New Years Party this time around. The chapter is up on time.
  2. Well, I hope it was worth the wait.
  3. CHAPTER 32: Friend and Relation I walked, taking nothing with me but the clothes on my back, whatever money was in my wallet, and the keys to my Camaro (which still had a wheel raised onto the pavement from my rush to get to Charlie’s). I didn’t dare take the car with me because I had no doubts that my father really would call the police if I did. But I wasn’t about to just hand the keys over to him that easily either. For a moment, I entertained the idea of ramming “his car” into a wall as rev
  4. Medically speaking, it wasn't bad enough to be noticed. The scars were mostly on the surface (i.e. not breaking any internal organs). Although yes, it was severe. Derek's father has his own story which unfortunately I cannot cover in this story. I might end up writing it some day. As a silver lining, no, he was not screwing around on Mrs. H. If anything, his lover for her remains the only thing whole in him. But again, it's something I will not discuss in this story. Perhaps in a sequel... And yes, Derek's "perfection" ramped up when he went a personality change (which slowly toned down as more of his buried feelings returned).
  5. Overwhelmed?
  6. Merry Christmas Lisa and a Happy New Year!
  7. Speechless?
  8. Thanks Westlake! Someone killed Luke for sure. I think I still have a few more surprises for you guys.
  9. CHAPTER 31: Father and Son Officer Bradford Caulwell was even beefier than the last time I saw him. I suppose I really could not blame him for coming to my house to pick me up under suspicion of murder. After all, the last time we saw each other I was with Luke in a store full of very deadly weapons. It didn’t help at all that there were several witnesses, who all just happened to be car enthusiasts who could distinguish the make and m
  10. Hi guldar. Unfortunately no, Luke was not a pawn of Derek's father - at least in that way.
  11. Just between you and me, I'd say the latter. But shhh, don't tell anyone. The discussion inside the room will remain private for the rest of the story. And nope, Luke did not commit suicide.
  12. Yes, I realized that the chapter title would have been quite... nerve wracking. Hehe. I'm glad you got through it though.
  13. Thanks Raymon Kobermann! Dr. Baker will be back for one more chapter before all this is over.
  14. I think the situation with the police might be interesting. I feel it's an extension of the style in this chapter. Hehe. However, the next chapter (in general) will carry a much heavier tone.
  15. Thank you Night Vision. As always I hope the feelings are good (or at least lead to something good).
  16. I'm already working on something else at the moment. However, it will be of a different genre. "Charlie" is a drama/comedy, whereas the next story I'm working on is action/adventure.
  17. Haha. Well, I can tell you now that Luke wasn't axed to death. And Rebecca has always been a strong character - the axe is the last thing you should worry about when it comes to her.
  18. Thanks Daniel89!
  19. I will try my best Dibadiah. The ending has already undergone significant changes thanks to the help of my beta readers. I just hope the changes were enough as the final draft has not been read by anyone but me.
  20. Yes, indeed.
  21. Yes, I wanted to tone down the emotional burden that people might associate with suicide by injecting some humor. It's not that I don't think suicide is a serious issue. It is but the readers have gone through so much already that I did not want to add too much to their plates. And that wasn't a cliffhanger! Haha. It's a natural end to the chapter - because really each chapter has to be about something which will eventually end.
  22. You raised something interesting that I will have to think about. I'm surprised the beta readers never pointed it out.

    Ch 30: Suicide

CHAPTER 30: Suicide “RED!” I cursed. “RED! How the fucking hell was the light RED?!” I swore at the impossibility of it. I looked through my rearview mirror and saw the Mile Five Intersection stoplight mocking me with a bright red eye. Stoplights were never red for me and the one at the Mile Five Intersection had chosen the opportune moment to turn red just as an eighteen-wheeler was crossing from the other side. The curved form of the said vehicle was parked along the road, its hazard lights b
  24. Yep, we're going to see soon.
  25. I hope this chapter leaving you speechless was a good thing.
