Not Linus's ancestors, but I do hope you're right. I just want to give Linus a hug. Glad you liked it.

Excellent! That was what I was aiming for, Dan! A bit of a dreamy quality, and the possibilities of additional stories, but a complete story in itself. I like that you were able to see through to the man within the doldrums.

*ponders on if there shall be more to come* Glad you liked it, Frosty! Is stumped a good thing?

    Thanks!
  5. It's a catchy tune, and very teen-pop, but as we all know, being popular doesn't make someone 'good' (Twilight, anyone?) These guys have a following of teen girls -- an age group that is always looking for the next big thing, and that's what brings out the dollar signs in the music business. They're good-looking boys and diverse, so they're easy to market. They're the next N'Sync/Backstreet Boys/Jonas Bros/etc. I don't think they're anything special. If they're still together in 5 years, maybe I'll reconsider.

    Best Laid Plans

I'm so glad to hear how involved you were in the story That's an awesome compliment! Will was committed; sorry if that wasn't too clear. Ben & Rick cannot yet legally marry. Maybe one day I'll be able to write that for them. For now, the promise of a new beginning together is the end of their story.

    Chapter 7

Thanks, Douw! I have written a great scene for these two, partly just for you.

    Chapter 8

I'm glad you're enjoying it; a little confusion is okay. I'll be concentrating on The Return as soon as I finish Waylon's, which should be in a couple weeks. I'm a bit overwhelmed at present, but The Return will have all my attention soon.

    Dinner with Gran

I am glad, on both accounts.
  10. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 35: Dawn in the World of Night The first mid-air crossing sent Kynan plummeting with the changing air currents. He yelped in surprise, limbs and wings flailing, only to pull up with a grunt as Karadur seized his sword belt. Kynan dared a look down to see the ground not rushing up to meet him, and let out his breath in a whoosh of relief. Karadur yanked on Kynan’s belt, reminding him to focus. It was hard to know what to do with his arms while flying.
  11. I liked all the signs, too! And the cops were amusing. Last year, I saw the police setting up for a demonstration, hanging out on their bikes and waiting for the demonstrators. Too bad this particular video was several months earlier than the time I was thinking of. Still, it's amusing.
  12. This is where I've been living the past 3ish years. Long Beach has the most pride anywhere around.
  13. Happy Happy Birthday!
  14. That would be a yes for me as well, and I'm not talking about my crazy family. That's a whole 'nother situation I won't go into here. What happened to me was I went to live with my grandparents after my grandfather had a stroke, to help my grandfather get around in the early days after being released from the hospital. I was in college and an adult, self-confident and all that. I'd overcome a lot by then and my family needed me, so I stepped up. Plus, I love my grandfather dearly. Less than 6 months later, I was depressed to the point of contemplating suicide. I doubted my self-worth, I had no confidence in myself, and to top it off, I just about flunked out of school, lost my scholarship, and to this day members of my family talk bad about me because of the verbal abuse my grandmother heaped on me. If not for my boyfriend at the time and my father coming for a visit, I would most likely not be here today. I was so deep in it that I couldn't see it. I didn't understand what had happened or what I'd turned into. It took me a year to realize the extent of my situation and recover. Less than 6 months to turn me into a sniveling wreck at 21 years of age. And to certain people in my family, I deserved it because I am a bad person. I was rescued, and I thank god for the two men in my life at the time. I had a strong person who I could lean on (even if I didn't realize it at the time) and a fresh pair of eyes to come in and view the situation. You obviously have some strong supporters on your side, but have you thought about talking to someone completely unconnected with you to give an impartial opinion? That might be an option. Even if it's not, you need to talk to someone you trust about what's happening. Just to get it off your chest will feel so much better. Hopefully, this forum is helping with that a bit.
  15. Yay for suspense! That's a weak area for me and I've tried real hard to make it work for this story. I really do mean it; if there's something I need to clear up, please let me know. Thanks for the kind words!
  16. Santa Monica is awesome (and Kingdom can be our tour guide! ). It's also a little easier to get to and find parking than West Hollywood, but I don't know if we can have a bonfire at that beach. Long Beach rocks! I think the people are a lot less snooty than the folks in Hollywood. Plus there's more things to do if you're not into the clubbing scene.
  17. Thank you. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
  18. We find out what happens with Karadur and Kynan next. If there's a particular scene you're not sure about, let me know and if others feel the same, that's something I'll fix. I'm glad you're liking the story. The end will be here before you know it.
  19. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 34: Light the Way For all that they were demons, they had done well clearing a path to the heart of Waylon’s Crossing. The city’s guardian sent his minions to stop them, but they were merely decoys and Mostyn cared not if they were massacred. A smaller band of handpicked servants accompanied him through the bowels of the city, up through the crypts, and into the Cathedral itself. The stone was hard and unyielding, infused as it was with the Light. There we
  20. How about (and I just read these): "special spot" or, "hot spot" My mom raises dogs, and I'll never associate "hot spot" as anything other than a big, nasty sore. I could not believe my eyes when I saw that written as something supposedly sexy. Yuck!
  21. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 33: Where did Everybody Go? “You ass!” cried Azil. Karadur caught his hand before it could connect. Wincing, he sat up. You know I’m okay, Azil, you can feel it. To his consternation, however, instead of being mollified, his pairling kicked him. Crossing his arms over his chest, he scowled. His thoughts were less than complimentary. “Does anything hurt?” asked Jacen. “We bound your arm, but other than that…” Karadur shrugged. Azil. Azil, calm do
  22. Got to love the oatmeal. It reminded me of this 'poster' I found a few years ago:
  23. Oh my, yes, you do have a point there. And, he's no longer jailbait!
  24. Well, welcome to the genre. I hope it's worth your while.
