    01 The One I Want

o_o What a review! Thanks, Dan. After reading my stuff, you still ask why I never overtly describe Ben as an Aspie? Since when do I just come out and say exactly what you want to know? LOL. I prefer to let my readers decide for themselves. I shall accept your thwacks with grace. I guess I missed that point in the story with the discussion on Asperger's when I did my editing last year. I will make a note to myself to fix at my next opportunity and expand upon Rick's reaction, which was "What does that (Asperger's) have to do with anything?" I'm glad you enjoyed reading my story. You've given me an awesome compliment! I'll have to go get my ego shrunk.
  3. Hey hey! Happy birthday to my bestest editor!

    Waylon's Crossing

oh, really, only a 9.99-something? Hm. Your comments are interesting and I'll have to go back and look at ch 25 again. It's taken me years to write this story and I wonder if that's where the break was because if I'm not mistaken, that was the big chunk (ch 1-25) that I first sent to my beta. If you're up for it, I could do with some more examples of what you're referring to. And rats! I've been trying to improve the head-hopping. Bugger. Pacing, well, the good with the bad, I suppose, since that's not a strong suit of mine. Still, a 9 out of 10 isn't bad, especially from you. I'm sort of crazy about those feathers myself.
  7. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mark!
  8. I don't think it's deflating, either. Go for it!
  9. I am an Honor Harrington fan, too! and I love the Hitchhiker's guide. I told my kids at the start of the year that the cover of their book should say, "Don't Panic." They didn't get it, but my co-teacher did! lol I have read every book in my library at least twice. Hard to give accurate titles because most of my books are tucked away in storage, but off the top of my head: the Pern books, brain ships, crystal singer, and Talent series by Anne McCaffrey, all the Star Wars books published up to around the year 2000, Dennis McKiernan's fantasy series, pretty much everything by Andre Norton, and this one book called Green Rider that I had to replace because I read it so much during a horse-crazy phase. As for GA, I've read State of Mind twice (I'd bought it as an e-book before I found it here on the site and I was fascinated by the editing changes in the book version). I've read the Rider's Pride at least twice, same for 52 Panhead, A New Life, and Hello, Stupid.
  10. No sequel planned at this time. *ducks thrown objects* I'm glad you liked the story!
  11. Well, since Bryce refused to ask, I guess we shall never know. Thanks for reading along, Ele. Your enthusiasm meant a lot to me. Currently, there are no plans for a sequel.

    Waylon's Crossing

Thank you, Q. It was wonderful to come home to a comment like this!
  13. So, it's been decided that I'm going as rapper "Little G" for Halloween this year. Bonus points to anyone who gets the science reference.
  14. Yes, that's right (re Bryce). Hm, I thought I had clarified that... Oh, well, I may have to go back and revisit. Thank you, Q, for all the lovely comments.
  15. Hey now! Did everyone forget it's the WORLD SERIES right now??? Have you seen them Cardinals play? Molina is the best catcher in either league, would've been MVP of game 3 if not for whatshisname's homeruns....
  16. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 36: Coming Home Alan ran from the park with a thousand thoughts milling around his mind. He considered each one quickly but carefully as the seed of an idea started to suggest itself. Rounding a corner, he barreled straight into a cluster of men. Before he could draw two breaths, they had him pinned against a wall bringing tears to his eyes and a moan to his lips. His shoulder wound throbbed and blood dripped from the torn stitches. Jacen would be so mad! Ha
  17. Maria, is it your birthday?? HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

    Best Laid Plans

Silly, I told you I changed it. So glad you liked it! I worked hard to make the story more cohesive as a whole.
  19. Happy birthday, Rush!

    James Place

Linus found a home, and that's where his story begins. Being able to start over was one of the things I liked best about moving around so much as a child and young adult. I really have been in places just like that and it's like a whole different world. I'm glad you liked Linus.

    The Nanny

It's nice to see a little note from you, wulff. I think this was one of the very first stories you read over from me. Now you can fav it and read it all the time!
  22. You're very welcome and thank you for the warm comments! It's always thrilling to know that something you write touches other people. Funny, though, in that I based the relationship of Matt and Eli on the relationship between someone I know and his mother.
  23. Considering Kynan's history and what we know of incubi/succubi, do we really want to take their word on the subject? Are you ready for the other side of the story? Yeah, the next chapter is sitting on my desktop mocking me with incompleteness. If I could get a decent night's sleep, I'd probably have more time to feel more guilty about not finishing it. It's why I was pushing myself so hard over the summer, because I was worried about my free time once school started. *sigh* The next chapter will be here just as soon as I can get to it. I didn't realize how much I would miss not writing!
  24. Thanks! It was a tough chapter to write and took me forever. Can you tell me what you liked best? I'd like to get those kinds of comments more often!
  25. o__o What'd I do? Hm, well, you've read the most recent chapters by now, so you know Bryce gets his moment. There's more in store for him.
