    James Place

James Place Guys like Linus didn’t win the lottery. Who ever heard of a Linus ever winning the lottery? He was just your everyday working stiff. As a barista at a couple of different coffee shops, Linus just barely managed to make enough money to pay his rent, and occasionally date -- although he hadn’t had a date in three months. Twice a year he took a week off to visit his parents. Every couple of years or so he’d pay for an online class that he wouldn’t finish. He liked Nute
  2. Linus makes coffee. He's good at it, too, even if no one remembers his name. When he does get a shot at his dream, the road doesn't lead exactly where he expected. One day he’d wonder if all things happen for a reason, or if God was just messing with him.
  3. wow, how did I miss this thread? When I was 6-7 years old, I was finally able to stay awake through our family movie night. We had a tradition where Dad would fold out the couch, we'd pile it with blankets and pillows, and Mom would make homemade pizza and donuts. We'd start with Star Wars IV and end with Return of the Jedi. I used to have these movies pretty much memorized. I remember my mom one time shouting at my brothers and me to "shut up already" because we were saying all the lines with the actors. hehehe Later, we also did movie night with the Back to the Future Trilogy (my dad's favorite) and Star Trek (my mom's favorite), although we usually started with Wrath of Khan and skipped over 1 & 5. LOL. Pretty much anything animated Disney as well. Mom always played the George Strait Movie and the Hunt for Red October while working on taxes. Whenever Dad wanted to annoy Mom, he put on South Park. My youngest brother drove us all insane with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang every day for an entire summer (although he denies it now). I always found The Wizard of Oz creepy.
  4. Finally! LOL. I should've tied you up and made you do this earlier.
  5. How about, when it comes to sex scenes: organ. I mean, really? I can handle "member" most of the time, but an organ is something you play at church, or something a doctor would say. In sex it's a cock or a dick. If you can't write those words, then why are you writing a sex scene?

    Waylon's Crossing

Thanks ... Lugh? Delaur is cute; all I can say is you have to wait for an answer to this one, hehe. *Jedi mode: there are no cliffhangers here. Thanks for the review. There are a lot of details and it's a fight every time between long-winded explanations and getting right to the action. I'm glad that after 30 chapters you're still coming back for more. That's every writer's wish, I think.
  7. Awesome! Thanks.
  8. I honestly don't know how to answer this. I just read.
  9. Greetings to you, SnowAngel! (I always forget to come in here ) Welcome to GA. We're mostly decent sorts around here.
  10. By the Chinese zodiac, I'm a monkey, but I've always thought it would be cool to be fire-breathing dragon. Interestingly, according to this quiz, I'm a wolverine. Now all I need are the adamantine claws.
  11. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 29: The Prince of Darkness It was uncanny; Azil reflected later, how much influence the young werewolf had on Kynan. In all his years as a surrogate parent, Azil had never seen the halfling look and act so carefree. Appearance-wise, not much had changed, other than clothing and weapons, and those wings; but now Kynan looked as young as he really was. The somber, serious persona was gone, and he laughed and smiled freely. Azil couldn't remember there being a
  12. I personally believe that people are not 100% gay or 100% straight. That's a very narrow box to try and shove people in. I believe that gay/straight is a spectrum -- a range that can go from 100% gay on one side to 100% straight on the other side. Most people will fall somewhere in the middle, which makes the whole question "Are you Gay or are you Straight?" a very inaccurate question just to start.

    Best Laid Plans

Thank you. That's one of the best compliments I think I've ever received.
  14. It's true that after watching Priscilla, you'll never see Elrond or Agent Smith in quite the same light again.
  15. Trick made me kind of want to laugh and cry at the same time. It's like everyone's nightmare of a date that just goes horribly wrong. Doesn't hurt that the main character is adorable. Has anyone ever seen Summer Storm? I saw part of a preview and it seemed interesting.
  16. Welcome to GA! I'm glad you're enjoying the story. You picked a tough one for your first, but I am honored that you decided to read my work.
  17. Thank you.
  18. T_T your lack of faith is disturbing
  19. Disaster? would I do that?
  20. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 28: Sweet Dreams Kynan had wanted to die, a scraggly man-child lost and so different from the myriad creatures which surrounded him that he still felt indescribably alone. There came a time when, exhausted and haunted by the specters of the people he'd killed, that Kynan crawled into a tiny, dark hole and cried himself to sleep. He was sated on emotions, but hungry and cold and alone. He woke to see eyes, glittering like his own in the lamplight. He was mor
  21. Hey, this is fantastic! As grateful as I am for someone to take this off my hands, you know we don't have to do this, right? I wasn't even sure if there are enough people interested, so that's why I put up the topic. Seem to be on the East Coast, but us westies are a little more laid-back about this sort of thing. While Anya was here, she dragged me to practically every beach in SoCal, lol. We noticed that at Huntington Beach, there's the state park and they allow bonfires at night. The place closes at 9 pm and the parking is expensive, but if we met somewhere and drove over as a group, that cost can be split. Plus there's the pier and nearby restaurants and such. It's not LA if you don't get to the beach, I suppose. Huntington also has a fireworks display, so that could be nice, but that will also depend on when we're there. I believe the 4th falls in the middle of the week next year, so that's not particularly helpful. Still, there should be enough activity there to provide entertainment for those who don't like the sand or water. There's also a quieter beach closer to LAX. Can't think of the name right now. The Pike in Long Beach is also an excellent place, with more family-style restaurants clustered around the harbor. There's two movie theatres, the aquarium, and an arcade-type boardwalk available as well. I'm not sure if the Borders will still be open, but that's currently there as well. Being right next to the Long Beach Convention Center, there's quite a few decent hotels, too. North of there, the next place I can think of is Santa Monica -- Kingdom by the Sea or JSmith are better able to say what's available up there. Vegas is not too far, either, though it seems a bit boisterous and expensive for folks here. TrevorTime could probably offer some places out his way. I'm not too familiar anymore with the area. Riverside is nice, though, and fairly easy to get to. I will be able to put up folks for the night, if they need a place. You'll just have to bring an air mattress and sleeping bag with you. If my current plans hold true, I'll still be around in early July, but I'll have to be gone by August and school doesn't end for me until mid-June, so that's my push for time in July.
  22. On the east coast there's Andy, but he'll be a mite busy next year with the baby and all. Maybe Anyta would organize, if you ask nicely? I think she and Andy live close by each other. Or, why don't you ask around if there's interest in one? You may be surprised.
  23. Well, it is a year away and things could change. A trip to Germany, Rakuten? You should stop in and see Anya if you can.
  24. So after Anya came to the U.S. for a visit, I started to discover just how many GA members live on the west coast (of the U.S.). I was wondering if there was interest in having a meet-up out here in the Los Angeles area? I don't mind organizing and I could probably host something. I'm thinking late June or early July, maybe the weekend of the 4th? We could do a beach theme, hang out and swim and a bonfire. Or there's more indoorsy things like a mall hop or the tons of amusement parks out here, though Anaheim (I've learned from experience) is tough on the wallet where group get-togethers are concerned. Anyway, if all goes well, next summer is my last here in the "lower 48" states, so I thought I'd see if there's interest. (BTW, if anyone else wants to host/organize, I am totally up for that, too. Just sayin! )
  25. Aw, I like that part, too. Bryce continues to consider himself something of a badass, but we all know differently. The chapt is of average length; it just seems shorter. Believe it or not, this was the best place to break apart ch 27&28. We'll get a bit more backstory on Kynan before the story puts its serious face back on.
