  1. Thanks. I worked hard to make all the characters unique. I wanted each to have their own personalities, although some just got away from me -- like Bryce, who didn't start out as a main character. I love them all, even the bad guys.
  2. Kynan is a very emotional being, so I'm glad that his feelings came across loud and clear here.
  3. There's definitely some history there behind Alan's interaction with his Dad. Then again, at 18, didn't you think you were invincible and omniscient? LOL
  4. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 10: A Frank Conversation The door slammed behind the prince with a dull, final sound. Kynan stared at the thick wood wordlessly, unable even to think beyond the relief that turned his limbs to jelly. Trembling, shaking, and sobbing so hard he had to feel rather than see where he was going, Kynan dragged himself back into the one spot of relative safety he'd found. He kept swallowing, trying to dislodge the muddy aftertaste in his mouth. His head still hurt
  5. I dropped in to read Desert Dropping because the story was recommended to me by a friend. I read all of Dom's stories and dkstories's too, plus others. A few months later I joined, stalked for a little while, and posted a couple things to get my feet wet, so to speak. Now the site is one of the places I check as regularly as my email and skype. I read and write as much as I can, which admittedly hasn't been much lately.
  6. "All I ask of You" from the Phantom of the Opera. I think it's beautiful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h43VhgiYQgI
  7. I also liked Latter Days and the boys in A Beautiful Thing were adorable! Especially the scene where they're talking about 'frottage.' LOL Another Gay Movie was completely stereotypical and campy, but I remember laughing hysterically over certain scenes. The 'mini-me' dyke was too funny. How each of the friends tried to get laid and it all went so outrageously wrong was pretty funny. Some of my other favorites are Edge of Seventeen -- it's kind of sad, but very poignant. It's an 80's movie, so the music is ... well ... it's the 80's. I love how the older men take him under their wing and give him their friendship. I like Parting Glances, too. Now that's a movie about love. There is a love triangle, but it's different from most you find. The main character loves two men. One he's romantically entangled with, and the other is his best friend. Both of those men love him romantically, and are wildly jealous of each other. One of them is going off to work overseas and the other is dying of AIDS. A movie that's not a 'gay' movie but still had me laughing is "Wet Hot American Summer." All the characters are supposed to be teens working at a summer camp, and lusting after each other, of course. The only couple to get any action is the gay couple. This is a movie in the style of "Another Gay Movie" and "Scary Movie" and the like. It's campy and stupid ... and I got a kick out of the visiting college professor and the "indoor kids."
  8. Kynan's just desperate. He reached out to the only person he knows will hear him. When you're that scared, you don't often think of the consequences first, and Kynan's still a kid himself. As for Aure, well, you'll just have to use your imagination!
  9. Yes, that's Bryce exactly. All of the characters are part of Kynan's story, and, yes, you should read faster. Xeran is on the outs with his sister (the queen). He was banished but has returned. Why is something you'll be discovering soon.
  10. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 9: Who is What Again? Aure left the justiciar's study and walked through the precinct back to the thief's interrogation room. Luck was with him; the Watch had not yet put the prisoner back in his cell. When the magistrate moved to unlock the door, Aure slipped through the crack between door and floor, entering first. "He did not believe me," he told Bryce, forming a slightly opaque network of air to separate vampire and magistrate. Bryce smirked. "Told
  11. Still bewildered, or have you starting putting the pieces together yet?
  12. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 8: Vampires Suck If Duncan's first conversation with the elemental had gone: "Hi, I'm here to help," then the second conversation was more like: "I went, I searched, I return with tidings of great evil." Right. Whatever. Duncan had more important things on his mind, like his ring, which was missing, and the chaos within the City Watch. There was something amiss, all right. The Watch had called in every justiciar in the city to deal with all the arrests of t
  13. No, I'm not out to any of my family, but I think my dad suspects. He told my sister that, of his children, I'm the one he doesn't know how to relate to and he can never anticipate what I'm going to do. And yet I'm the one he talked to when he was thinking about divorcing my mom and I'm the one who graduated college and isn't always asking for money. You'd think me being successful would be a good thing. He has asked me several times if I'll be "single" when I move home... You scare me; what if my dad tries to hook me up, too? Yikes!
  14. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 7: Elementals are Scary Kynan came alert immediately when the door opened. His heart beat a quick, nervous rhythm against his chest. He saw the prince's feet enter, take a few steps, half-turn, and then the demon knelt, peering into the darkness where Kynan lay. He could see those green eyes in the reflection of torch-light, knew the demon could see him, too. From his hands and knees, the prince leered at him. "Now this, I would not have thought of," he sai
  15. Big ones! LOL. Naw, probably nothing in season. Won't even be break-up yet -- river's will all be frozen still. But whenever I think about spending time with my dad I remember how fun it was fishing when I was younger. He bought me plane tickets to visit, so I'm thinking maybe he's serious this time. Seems like he's said he wants to spend time with me but is never available ... I can't help hoping.
  16. I don't get spring break until April, but I'm heading back home to Alaska to spend time with family and go to the all-important teacher job fair. My father has promised some actual time together! I hope we can do some fishing.
  17. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 6: No One’s Listening “Hey kid.” The voice was harsh and loud, startling Alan awake. He looked around groggily, assessing where he was, rubbing one blurry eye with his fist. There was stone and bars and a tin can in the corner and he lay on a wooden cot. For a moment, he tried to remember why he’d been brought here, but, after a spell, remembered why it would have been better not remembering. Alan covered his face as the night unfolded to him once again.
  18. LOL Lugh. You built up the tension so much that the ending just killed me. I guess I'd forgotten how evil you can be.

    It Was a Holy Day

    AHHH! You bastard!

    Prison Of Hope

Oh, wow. So emotional! And the ending ...! I don't want to give it away but I was repeating to myself OMG over and over. You've been holding out on us! Not now we know you can write like this. Two thumbs up.
  21. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 5: Interrogations There was something different about waking this time. He was tired still, but clean, with a blanket over him and a perfumed pillow under his head. He blinked, confused, sitting up abruptly as the bed creaked. Xeran, the Prince of Darkness, sat there, cup in hand, watching him silently. Kynan scrambled up into the corner by the wall, eyeing the demon warily. Xeran held out the silver goblet, making Kynan's nostrils twitch as he smelled wate
  22. You mean you turn the lights off?
  23. Who is he?
