  1. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 4: Detective Work The scene of death was a gruesome one, more so for the time which had passed since the incident. Scattered around the empty warehouse, lanterns illuminated the grisly scene for the members of the Watch who were charged with identifying the bodies and cause of death. A dozen demons lay dead, and a few more blood trails led to others, all tagged and marked. In elemental form as little more than smoke, few humans had eyes quick enough to spy A
  2. That sounds like it could be The Las Vegas Trilogy by Jack Scribe.
  3. one ring to rule them all! A macguffin is something credited to Alfred Hitchcock. Quite often in his movies he'll have an object he showed early on turn out to be key to the plot. My sister studied his films when she was in college. I'm not a horror movie fan and I hated it because she watched each movie what seemed like a million times. Alan is cute and you're starting to see how unique my vampires and werewolves really are.
  4. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 2: While the City Sleeps Alan was on edge and it showed in his work. This was the fourth pipe he'd broken and if he kept going at this rate he wouldn't have enough to fill his quota. He cursed under his breath and dropped the sad remains of the mangled tube in the refuse pile, shaking, hand gripping a blacksmith hammer tightly. There he stood for a moment, staring at those four useless tubes. His eyes closed and he sighed. Should have known better than to try
  5. Waylon's Crossing Chapter 3: Pick-pocketing is not Normally so Exciting Bryce Knopf loved the night. He ought to; he was a vampire, after all. And a thief, not to forget that. He grinned to himself and ducked into the shadows of an alley as a pair of watchmen rode past. Bryce had a title, if he wanted it. Duties and responsibilities came with titles. Bryce didn't want anything to do with them. He'd been forced to give up everything. Now all he'd asked was to be left alone. Vam
  6. I find the Borderlands fascinating, too. All those worlds -- all those possibilities. It makes me think of ruptures in the space-time continuum. LOL I wonder how many people know what a macguffin is? Got your comments. Thanks again.
  7. It's funny but I haven't seen Inception... I wish I could take credit for that pic! Thanks for the style comments. I've taken them to heart and made some revisions. Feel free to send more as I continually strive to improve.
  8. mwahaha! You've been hooked! There's no escape now. Chapters to be released twice a week -- at least, that's the current plan.
  9. I used to play Dungeons and Dragons. 3.0 and 3.5. 4.0 came along after my life got crazy. Couldn't afford the books even if I had had the time. Still, I love to paint the miniatures. That and I like hiking. The best part about going home are the summers I'll have available to go backpacking and canoeing out in the wilds.
  10. wow. when you review, you REALLY review! LOL. The dreamscape is partially Kynan's subconscious, and that's why things look a certain way. I think of it a little like the Matrix. Xeran is a sexy beast.
  11. That is true. And Stonegate stables isn't exactly platonic, either. I guess what I mean is that there's a time and a place. If the quality of the writing is good, then the sex blends in seamlessly and just belongs. Otherwise, at least in my case, I get annoyed and skim or skip over the sex because, if it's not driving the plot, then what's the point? My philosophy is that if the scene (sex or otherwise) doesn't matter to the plot, then why put it in? Hey now. Those scenes were exploring eroticism; not sex. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  12. I agree with both of you. There's this ebook I have that was okay -- not bad, but, you know, not great, either -- until the two characters had sex the first time. There were hands and legs in some contortionist configuration I couldn't make out and all "love juice" and "bodies joined in a harmonic symphony of pure passion." I kid you not. And then it just went on and on in one sex scene after another and they were just so bad! I wanted to gouge my eyes out. Plot wins over sex any day, but even when the sex is good, come on! Enough is enough already.
  13. How about the Q from Star Trek? Then you could be Deja-Q ...

    Waylon's Crossing

Well, maybe you were referring to the gruesome-ness rather than the dark-ness. lol. You'll simply have to tell me when we get to your fav chapter. Now I'm bursting with curiosity. I confess that I'm not sure what you mean here when you say you're glad I put it in.
  15. shhh .... only you as my beta can see these chapters right now. Sneaky devil, you. I think you'll find the revisions to be subtle, but I think you'll like them. One of the big ones is that section about Alan working in the shop. After playing with it a bit I decided to just delete most of it, since it isn't really important to the plot.
  16. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. You take the time you need to help your family through these times. We'll be thinking of you here and wishing all the best.
  17. Bieber does seem like a tragedy waiting to happen, like River Phoenix or, worse, Michael Jackson.
  18. new haircut actually makes him look like a teenager. Looks like he may actually serious about being known for something other than being teeny-bopper.

    Dinner with Gran

No constructive criticism? I'm disappointed! Glad you liked it. They're all my fav chars, but this is the only place we really get to see Gran interact with the others. I love her.

    Waylon's Crossing

Oh, I'm glad you're interested! I did visualize it as something like a mini-series. There's a large cast and my beta has told me she thinks it might actually be too dark... I hope to start posting pretty soon. btw, there is a cute blond. hehe.
  21. I love the classic Rogers and Hammerstein musicals. I think County Fair is my favorite. There's simply an air of magic, of fantasy, to them. I like the positive, dream-like aspect. I guess that's the primary reason I don't care for Les Miz or Rent or the like; too depressing.
  22. Rush -- you the momma!! Thanks, I've gone and said Hi now, too. I wonder what we can do to celebrate?
  23. Hey, I noticed the other day someone's status about being close to 10,000 members. Just now I noticed that we're at 10,001 and that member is NK. Anyone know who is/was #10,000? We should all go say hello! This is a fabulous achievement for Myr and gang.
  24. Hey, now, who you calling old? I like Glee, too. Lots of un-teenagers like Glee.
  25. Are you looking for people to agree/disagree with you? or what are you looking for out of this thread?
