Ugh, I hate losing pets. The one before Silver was Jackie. She was 19 years and 9 months old, almost 20. Don't ever take me to a vet to have this done; you can mop the floor with me. It's not a good idea. They stand there feeling awkward while I'm spilling my guts out. Ah, our feline and canine friends. Can't do without them. 🥰

Dont they? I have a cat, a Maine Coon called Silver (she's featured in the story and on the cover of Confounded III), and I talk to her all the friggin' time. She responds and always wants to be in the same room. If I'm home and the door is closed, she'll break down the bloody place.

CHAPTER 7 - Adam It was in the first week of June that I received another letter from Kai. It’d been some ten days since I sent off my response. The noisy work was now mostly finished - at least the buzzsaws were gone - though there was the occasional hammering in the distance, a dull thump…thump, where they were replacing fence poles with new ones, and hammering on nails, where they were putting up the planks to those poles. Try "The House Always Wins". I like that one, it's one of the better ones. Or give Confounded II and III a go. Confounded I is not a good story, in terms of character development (Mitchell). I'm trying to make up for it in Confounded III. Edit - I should amend this by saying that even though it's not the best, the info from Confounded I directly sets up the whole thing.

They're about an hour, hour-and-a-half apart now, both in Maryland, US. I'm not using a specific location for Adam because someone might live there and call me on a local faux pas, like "this street doesn't go north to south', or 'That lake doesn't have houses' or 'I live there! He's my neighbor!" or whatever. He's somewhere in Maryland, I'll leave it at that, and Kai is currently at Walter Reed, which is specific, and is in Bethesda, MD.
