    If It Was Just Me

Casey's situation isn't really all that unusual, though circumstances vary. I had hope that the reader would feel some of what I did when I wrote this. It sounds like you did.

    If It Was Just Me

This was a difficult chapter for me to write. Once the title came to me, though, the chapter had to be written.
  3. If It Was Just Me When Casey got home, it was pushing three o’clock in the afternoon, and his dad’s truck wasn’t there. He put his bike away in the garage and went in through the side door to the kitchen. When he’d left that morning, it had still been dark. He hadn’t looked around before he left, and he hadn’t turned on any lights, either, but pots and pans were scattered all over the kitchen floor. Some of the dishes were on the floor, too, broken in pieces. An empty bottle of cheap bourbon wa

  5. Is it in input or output mode?
  6. Thanks for reading, Lisa. James is an interesting kid; you'll find out more about him later.

    Effort

If you're not careful, the 'net is just a timesuck. If you're disciplined, it can be enriching.
  8. Casey's not the only one who needs a friend. The town IS a nice place, but there's good and bad everywhere and in everyone. I'm glad you're enjoying the story. Thanks for the feedback.
  9. Hooked? That tells me I'm doing something right. Thanks for reading.
  10. I borrowed the name Batisse from a family of tribal elders at the east Texas Indian reservation.

  15. Thanks, Robert. Hopefully, it'll go in interesting places.
  16. Thanks for reading. Yes, I have a few chapters ready to post, and plan to do so regularly until it IS done.
  17. What Are You Dressed Up For? Casey woke with a start. It was just the hint of a touch, but he scrambled backwards from the sensation. He was obviously panicked, gasping for breath. His eyes began to focus on the face in front of him. The boy had a deep tan and dark hair falling over one eye, but the other held a look of concern. “Wh-what are you doing?!” Casey demanded. “Who are you, and why did you touch me?!” The boy, who had been squatting in front of Casey, softly sat on the ground. He

    Bill Cosby

I like your point about not knowing the accusers, and not placing the word of one stranger over that of another. The presumption of innocence is important, too. Not knowing any of the parties, not being personally involved, not being a fan, I have no skin in the game. All of this, if it happened, happened a long time ago, and social mores have changed a great deal, too, just as in the US, we now refer to African Americans, because Black is somehow deemed less dignified. Am I interested in whether or not Bill Cosby sexually assaulted these women? Mildly. But my sun will not rise or set any differently.
