I guess the first thing I should do is get the dust rag out and wipe the spiderwebs off of my blog. I can't believe it's been so long since I've logged on to GA. Actually, this is the first time in a long time I've been able to sit down and catch my breath in a long time. I'm sure that everyone knows by know, but for those that might not know, I became a dad in April. My head's still spinning a little bit, but the newness of it is pretty much gone now, if that makes any sense. My daughter already knows how to get what she wants, which is pretty much to be held at all times during the day and night, for no one to talk while she's nursing, and to never, EVER, be put in her carrier. I don't know what I'd do if it weren't for my fianc

Foriegn aid, abortion and outsiders
NickolasJames8 commented on NickolasJames8's blog entry in Read my blog
Yeah, I would say that multiple abortions are excessive. I was being extra lulzy when I made that statement, mainly to drive the point home that I'm for abortion. BTW, thank you for the nice comments about my blog. I enjoy writing in it, but I know I've been neglecting it as of late. -

Foriegn aid, abortion and outsiders

There's no sense in disrupting the thread with my opinions. I've found that I have more range to express my opinions when I do so on my blog rather than in the forums, where the "PC Police" seem to have a stranglehold on moral authority. -
I agree with what you're saying James, but on this forum, the unfortunate fact is that the conversation has to be dumbed down for the Obama-bots because it's all about his celebrity and not his policy. We'll see how much damage this guy can do for the next four years, and hopefully by then, the idiotic Republicans will actually have a platform and a message that doesn't appeal to the lowest common denominator in our nation.

I had to chuckle when I read the thread about public funding for abortions in the Soapbox. I

Mike, I wasn't trying to single you out or anything, but I have to say that I definitely disagree that we should "take what we can get." Is it fair for people who live in California who were planning to be married when gay marriage was legal to have to wait around and take what they can get? This is about separate but equal, a notion that has been demonized in the last 60 years. How can we stand by and accept that for ourselves, or for future generations of lgbt couples that face the same oppression we do?
-
Tim, A lot of people oppose Don't Ask Don't Tell. People like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Rielly, Fred Phelps and his entire family, and others. Don't Ask Don't Tell and Gay Marriage are two totally different issues. Why should we have to wait 20-30 years? Or even one year? How is that even remotely acceptable? If you'd like to know where I get my info from, well, in this instance, I got it straight from the horse's mouth.

Real quick because I have to run, what I got out of that interview is that Obama let the Bishop deliver an invocation for an event that meant practically nothing, that he used to support gay marriage, and once he entered the inner circle of the DemoKKKrat party, he turned homophobic. I respect the good Bishop's right to his opinion, as well as everyone else on this forum, but there isn't a single circumstance that I can imagine someone being opposed to gay marriage unless they're homophobic. Their very opposition to same sex marriage would have to be rooted in homophobia.
-
Unfortunately, he was asked during a primary debate if he supported same sex marriage, and he said no, that marriage is between a man and a woman. I'm pretty sure that the reason he opposes a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage is because he understands that the constitution's purpose is to limit the power of the federal government over the people, not to restrict people's rights.
-
Actually, the reason he doesn't support same sex marriage is because he's a homophobe. Also, please examine your second sentence. He has his morals and doesn't believe two guys should be allowed to get married? Morals have nothing to do with gay marriage, unless someone believes that it's morally wrong to be gay. That's not fine. It's wrong.
-
So, denying an entire segment of the population a right that he himself enjoys is about being diplomatic and pragmatic? I don't think I get where you're coming from.
-
Okay, let's assume that I'm wrong. Please answer one question for me then..... If Obama really isn't a homophobe, why does he oppose gay marriage?

Ok, so I promised the last chapter of If By Chance in my last blog entry, but I stretched it out for at least one more chapter...sorry. Also, I just wanted to say something in general to everyone salivating over Barack Obama's promise to do away with Don't Ask Don't Tell because it'll prove those of us who say he'll disappoint the gay community wrong; That doesn't change anything. He opposes gay marriage. That's enough for me. I'll always oppose him as long as he opposes equal rights for every American. So to make a long story short, he already HAS disappointed the gay community. His base passed prop 8 out in California and prop 2 in Florida. What more proof do you need? Oh yeah, and here's a random 80's video for no particular reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kO5qwNG4U18

Once again, Ron Paul rises above the fray to provide a reasoned and well thought out argument against US involvement in the middle east. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z6vMAoFwf4 BTW, for anyone who's wondering, the last chapter of If By Chance should be finished sometime this weekend. I know I've been neglectful and I'm sorry, but life has been kicking me in the balls over and over again and it's been hard to catch my breath.

I guess it's time to update this thing again....... Not much to talk about, really. Christmas was mostly uneventful. Kate and I got a bunch of baby furniture (a crib, a bassinet, a changing table and a really nice oak dresser). We both got each other clothes and I bought her some diamond earrings. I was going to get her an engagement ring, but we decided that it wasn't a good idea to make that purchase until we've actually told my folks that we're getting married. A couple months before Christmas, Taylor got really sick. He went to the doctor and they did a bunch of tests. He had fluid around his heart and a spot on his lung. Instead of doing a biopsy on his lung, they decided to keep a close eye on him until they ran a few more tests. I was pretty sure he had screwed himself up with all the hard drugs he had been doing, but luckily, they tested him for food allergies and figured out that he's allergic to wheat, barley and any food with gluten in it. It sucks to be him because he can't have beer, but at least he's not knocking on deaths door, which was what I was really afraid of. _____________________________________________________________________ Okay, now I'm about to make a potentially offensive remark... If the democratic leadership of the US Senate doesn't seat Roland Burris, it'll prove my point that the DNC is full of nothing but racists. They've already proven themselves to be homophobic and anti-Semitic, and I've always had a feeling that they were racists too, but this is their moment to prove it. If they refuse to seat this qualified, African American man in their exclusive all white club, the truth will be out there for all to see. They're tripping over themselves to try and get Caroline Kennedy appointed, and what are her qualifications? She seems to be the left wing's answer to Sarah Palin. Her only talent is going to be raising money with her name, which might be helpful to other democratic politicians, but does nothing for the citizens of this nation, and more to the point, the residents of New York state.

This morning I woke up to a really sad email telling me that someone I met online years ago passed away. He'd been given a diagnosis of 6 months to live not long ago, but I guess sometimes the doctors are wrong. Anyway, I've tried hard to separate the online friends I have from the friends I have irl, but it doesn't always work that way. I still find myself wondering and worrying and hurting for others, even though I've never met some of them face to face. I have exactly one friend that I've met online that I've maintained a solid, emotional attachment to. Others have gotten to know me and decided for one reason or another that I wasn't worth it. There are some who I've held at arms length, too. Mainly as a defense mechanism, I think. But no matter who's ever disappointed me, or who I've had a falling out with, there's one friend that I have who I've always gone back to. He never hit on me or asked me for my number. He didn't ask me if I have any nude pics, and he didn't get impatient with me when I was wrong about something and wouldn't admit it. He remembers my birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other times. He sends me e-cards randomly just to say hi. And he's the one that had to sit down at his pc this morning and pass the news along to me. I feel horrible that I know he's hurting and that I can't do anything to numb his pain. I'll go on with my day today, bitching and moaning that I have to work in this cold weather and that I have to go shopping later on. I'll stop what I'm doing at some point to blow some hot breath on my fingers and curse about it, but my life will go on. So will my friend's life, but it's going to be harder for him. He's endured so much in his life, and sometimes I don't think he understands what his purpose is on this planet. But I know one thing that's true. No matter what, if we ever do or ever don't meet irl, I know that my life will always be better for having met him and for being able to call him my friend.

I agree, Harry Truman was a total loser. As for what happened after 9/11, I wouldn't say it was democrats who assaulted Arab Americans, but they definitely had enough members in the senate at the time to stop what eventually went down (like the war in Iraq). Luckily, they didn't cancel the shows outright, but they did preempt them so they could show that lame 24 movie.

Well good news if your one of my readers... I'm working on the last chapter of If By Chance and I have assembled a small group of beta readers for my next online story. I've been working on something that's not for the internet, but I haven't shown it to anyone yet because it's not going to be for public consumption. I hate to waste my editor's time on something that isn't going online and that I don't actually have a plan for yet. I highly doubt that this story's going to have a gay theme to it, but we'll see what my fingers decide. Oh yeah, and I'm really pissed off that the FAUX network decided to run some lame ass 24 movie in lieu of The Simpsons, King of the Hill and more to the point, Family Guy and American Dad. Oh well, it gives me time to knock a few more paragraphs out since my better half is out shopping with my stepmom. Oh yeah, here's the legacy of FDR, the greatest democrat that ever lived....lol

Why you are going to miss George Bush
NickolasJames8 commented on JamesSavik's blog entry in jamessavik's Blog
Because he appealed to the anti-abortion, anti-gay vote from religious America, and had gotten his country into war. Sorry, but I really have a hard time with anyone trying to tell us the democrats are going to disappoint gay people and try to defend some elected official leading a prayer group before going to war. They already have. How many democrats do you think voted no on prop 8 in California? Or prop 2 in Florida? It's a joke that somehow the democrats are this pro-gay rights, pro-equality party. If anything, they have the most shameful record when it comes to discrimination against people who are different. As for the prayer group before going to war, isn't that what FDR did? Oh yeah, he also imposed the interment of Japanese Americans, forcing them off of their land and denying them medical care while they were being held. Yeah, you're right. The democrats have a great track record. -
Why Obama is going to betray gay voters
NickolasJames8 commented on JamesSavik's blog entry in jamessavik's Blog
Personally, I think President Elect Obama has already betrayed the gay voters. I guess he didn't exactly lie to anyone about his stance on Gay Marriage. Both he and his running mate stated that they were for discrimination against gay and lesbian couples who want to be married. It's just that the self hating gay and lesbian voters who voted for him convinced themselves that he was somehow going to be an advocate for our community. I mean, if their definition of equality is separate but equal, then I guess they got what they wanted. Somehow, though, I think most of the glbt Obama voters believed what they wanted to believe, and now they're going to have to face the harsh reality that Obama and most lawmakers in the DNC are homophobes. -
I love you Jamessavick
