One of the things I've attempted to do with this story is to draw from my own life and what I know of a few others. As a people, our being gay really is but a small part of who we are. We are everywhere and we make up all walks of life.

I don't know... You might be a bit surprised when you find out the reason Carl was let go. Soon we hope. Or not... Yes, at some point the years-long emotional stress had to come out. Of course, like most stress, this won't be the only time. Pete's story is far from over. I just hope you like the rest of the story.

My injuries were not life-threatening, so the ambulance took its time and obeyed all the traffic regulations to get to the hospital. No siren, or flashing lights… that part was a bit disappointing. It was early afternoon and the ER was not as busy as one might expect on a Friday. Hmm, bet that changes as the sun goes down! What a wonderful Christmas for Devin and Mac with both of their families. I didn't quite follow the reasoning for Devin staying small, especially as he was being bullied about his size. It didn't make a lot of sense to me. They really should have let him grow, at least as tall as the median height of the other kids.

OK, that was suspenseful! The Minister is correct though. It does not matter how many people have died. The bigger picture is stopping the opening of the gate. Should the gate open, all humanity is at risk.

Elko is a lot different than San Bernardino, where Peter grew up. Up until this last summer, he was smaller than most everyone else. He learned street fighting early on. I guess I didn't make that as clear as it could be in the prologue.

Because of the way that Pete was literally forced to grow up, there are more than a few times that he sounds and acts like an adult. Yet we also have to remember that Pete is just a newly turned 14-year-old and thus, is still a kid.

Conditioning Week was an eye-opener. Unlike the schools in San Bernardino, after the baseball season here, almost none of the regular players kept up with their physical exercises. When it came to running, they couldn’t touch me. Running patterns like the 5-10-5 or the L-sprint was easy for me. Squats and push-ups? No sweat. Ah, the invincibility of youth! Josel is in for a rude awakening I think. Nothing in this chapter convinces me that I'm wrong about the Shadow Cross.

It's just a gut feeling, and my gut has been wrong many times before, but I'm not liking this 'Shadow Cross' organization. Perhaps it was the way you introduced the subject or the description of Isendar Vargan... But whatever it was, I took an immediate dislike to him/them.

Oh heck! Now I'm going to have to go back and reread a few chapters. I simply don't recall Jamie telling Mike what he's really doing! Other than that, excellent chapter on how the various media make mountains out of ant hills.
