Thank you for your comments.🥰 This fourth book was indeed a dark one, and at the moment the situation looks rather hopeless for the good guys. There will be more dangerous situations, more schemes by the villains, and plenty of youthful emotional turmoil to come. And yes, there will definitely be more of Tac Temogam as well. Downtrodden father and daughter indeed😁 In fact, we'll be seeing Aden and the Vargans again very soon, right at the beginning of the next book. We'll have to see what they are up to.

@chrstphrl Thank you for your feedback.❤️ Franz has no idea how important he is, nor how much danger he is in. The boys didn't appear very often in the latter part of this book, but I have certainly not forgotten them, and each of them still has an important role to play in the story. By the way, the fifth book is by far the longest in the series, so there is still plenty left to read — and plenty of pages left for me to translate into English.😅

I should add that, of all the character deaths so far, Andreuz's was probably the hardest for me personally. He was a genuinely good man, and now Josel has lost both of his parents. Or maybe all three of them, if Mocvann counts as a parent😁

Unfortunately, Andreuz did not survive, and there is nothing that can be done for him anymore.☹️ At the moment, it seems that the Darkness and its many servants have the upper hand, even though Zal managed to achieve a kind of victory at the dyehouse. Then there are the dreaders and the beast in the tower as well. Zal really has very few allies left now. Only a handful of teenagers come to mind.😅 Book Five will reveal whether they prove to be of any use.

The plot is developing really well and keeps getting more engaging as Evan and Nate’s relationship progresses. I like this a lot! One small thing in the following passage puzzled me a little. Why doesn’t Evan refer to his brother and sister by their names when talking about them?

@akascrubber @drsawzall @chrstphrl I thought Renn's storyline was fitting to end this way. He truly regretted his actions far too late, and the punishment is severe. We're getting very close to the end of this book now. There are only two narrators left. I may end up splitting them into two chapters after all, so there will likely be one short chapter followed by an epilogue.

@Seraph28 Thank you, I'm glad you're looking forward to the upcoming chapters. This chapter was really intended as a kind of culmination of Book 4's main storyline. The only thing I'm not entirely satisfied with is how I ended up bringing the Faceless into the plot. After the events at Marta's house in Book 1, I simply couldn't come up with a meaningful way to tie the Faceless into the main story. In the end, that left me with little choice but to kill it off in this way. Every now and then, I regret starting to write before I had planned the overall story in greater detail. As a result, weaving all the different plot threads together has often been quite a challenging task.😓

Zaltarim Ragart adjusted his submachine gun again. His face was taut, and sweat gleamed on his bald scalp. It was easy to guess the merchant was itching to open fire and cut down the Fallen rampaging below in the dyehouse. Zal had given him no permission for that. It was horrific to watch the suffering of those being tortured. Especially knowing that, if he wished, he could have saved them from at least some of their pain. Zal himself felt the urge to shoot, but reason held him back. H
