  1. Generally, the way most state laws are written, it is rape if there is penetration. That is what happened here. Bruce should get charged with assault and rape. Lyle will get assault and battery, accessory before and after the rape. If the Prosecutor can prove they talked about what they would do to Cory, a conspiracy charge might be added to both. Depending on how old Bruce and Lyle are, they might get charged as adults. The single biggest thing that will likely happen to the boys is that they will be tagged as sexual offenders for the rest of their lives. Their futures just took a nose dive.

Two young men from worlds that were polar opposites meet and come together as one. As you have said many times, it was the right place to end the story. I loved it, Ivor.

Ordinarily, I would be leery of any involvement by the local police or sheriff. One or both were instrumental in putting Wayne's father in prison! In principle, I agree with how Phillip set out the distribution of the duplicate tapes, with the provision that the Chief of Police and the Sheriff know where all the copies are going. This would keep them honest, at least for this little venture. For the most part, I agree!

The internet existed back in the 80s. Certainly not as we know it today. It was mostly a text-based system and you used your telephone (landline) to talk to another telephone. Both were connected to a computer. Usually a mini-computer as opposed to a mainframe. Mainframes were mostly used by big corporations and universities, and yes, they were also connected to landlines. Connecting micro-computers (what we use today) became widespread as the 90s progressed. The World Wide Web (WWW) that we know today was first postulated on or about 1990. In 1991, the protocols were set. In 1992, the discussion (actually, huge arguments) shifted to allowing commercial use of the web. By 1993, commercial use began to "destroy" the free web that people had known (and argued would happen). Videotape for the consumer was brought about by Sony's Betamax (1986) and JVC's VHS (1987). VHS won the battle. So... Pick a time period for this story. Now that history is out of the way... Taping the paddling was lawful if it was used solely for liability reasons and not viewed except under subpoena. It was child porn if it was viewed by an audience for reasons other than legal liability. In Miller v. California, 413 U.S. 15 (1973), the Supreme Court defined pornography (as lacking "serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value"). The paddling lacks all of those.

School Boards fall under one of two categories. They are either beholden to the Teacher's Unions (NEA) or they are beholden to the general ethos of the local population. Care to guess which one I suspect? Regardless, without a good attorney and a good lawsuit, you will get nowhere with them.

I'm willing to bet this incident was a setup. Mr. Reynolds was there way too fast for it to be anything else.

"Windtalkers" is a term made up from the 2002 movie. Yeah, I saw it and it got me thinking about the idea. Elsewhere it is said that about 75% of the movie was real. What was real is that they were called "Code Talkers." They were native Navajo (Diné - di Nay) speakers enlisted in the USMC under a very secret operation. The use of Native American language as a code dates back to WWI (Choctaw). The Navajo were selected because of 3 things. 1) The Germans sent linguistic students (spies) to America to learn Native American languages after WWI. 2) They never sent anyone to the Navajo or Apache nations (the languages are very similar) to learn that language. 3) The language of the Diné had no counterpart in the US. It was related to the indigenous tribes of Alaska and far northern Canada. Those scholars who researched WWII knew nothing about the Code Talkers until they were declassified in 1968.

    Chapter 34

Absolutely the best place to end the story, @Ivor Slipper. Thank you. Yes, some plot threads were left hanging but what is a good story without some threads showing the wear and tear? I'm glad I read it here where I could comment as the mood struck.

    Chapter 33

As I read through the comments, I had to look twice to make sure I hadn't somehow fallen into story comments by @kbois, @Mrsgnomie, or @astone2292!!! Nope. It's still the @Ivor Slipper comments section.

    Chapter 31

Those cherry coconut muffins sound pretty good. As does the cherry soup. I did notice that the website for the soup recipe also had a recipe for a cherry cheese pizza! That is something I will also have to try. Our local grocer has frozen tart and sweet cherries! Z is for Zombie ... Gads! I haven't read (on the other site) that one in ages. What a great idea, plugging another author. It didn't take Adam all that long to get back into the "swing of things."

    Chapter 28

While I remembered that Diamond and Mike were related, I didn't give him much more thought after he was drummed out. What could have been a real tragedy turned out to have a fairly good outcome. I do, however, wish those characters would quit whispering to you about all these plot twists, Ivor. They are becoming ever-ready bunnies! They should take a rest! 😜

    Chapter 27

I should get off this roller coaster... And I'll take the boys with me! Don't worry Ivor, I have a .50 Barrett BMG. It'll take out almost anything up to 2000 meters (beyond that, I'll have to put the scope on it).

Yeah... I can see Adam spewing on the coaster's first hard 90-degree turn!

    Chapter 24

Kidney pain (damage to one or both) is felt in the back. Damage to the spleen is felt under the left ribs. This appears to be the lower right abdomen. That is most often an indication of appendicitis. Since the pain comes and goes, the damage is not yet severe. Still, a doctor should be consulted before the problem becomes acute and possibly ruptures. Fifteen going on sixteen... We are indestructible at that age and we will live forever! LOL!!! I really liked big brother Tom.

    Chapter 22

The birthday "thank you" letter was superb! I do see a way dear old mum could make hay with. I don't expect it, but one never knows for sure. Yes, birthday spankings are traditional in the US. Sadly, I've never encountered anyone who still had their foreskin intact. However, I'm also happy that the doc who did mine left a lot of excess skin there.

    Chapter 17

In my view, Mike and Adam's Dad both grabbed the gun and fought over it. I won't speculate who either of them wanted to shoot, other than to say it wasn't to save Adam or Troy. Just wouldn't be in character for either of them. I guess I am a bit concerned that Kyle got infected with HIV, even though it's much less likely with oral sex. I really don't wish that on anyone. I've seen the end stages with a couple of friends. It's never pretty. I am glad these three chapters are over!
