So it finally happened. After six agonising months of being unemployed, I finally found a job. I’ve never gone so long before being out of work. I got a job as a manager at Your Toyz. It’s a new chain of toyshops that has just opened up and down the country. I didn’t even bother to research the company or anything; I was just so desperate for a job that I applied. The advert said the company was looking for managers for their new stores, and they were offering a package that seemed too goo
  8. Ouchies. Slivovice is like drinking turpentine I tried it in Prague . . . once . . . never again.
  9. Och nae, yae dinnae North of the border they'll cut off vital parts of your anatomy for committing such sacrilege. Being half-Scottish I can see where they are coming from

    What the . . .

@sly - I used to have a collection of LPs and 45s when I was younger. I used to play them all the time, CDs just don't sound right @Cia - yeah, they were so young in it. I saw a recent pic of Scott Baio and couldn't believe it was the same person @Tom - I was a little surprised, but when I first saw the film at about the same age I fancied Scott Baio as well. I feel a little weird that we both have the same taste.

    Worth It

A really dark piece Rob. This is one of those aspects of life that many prefer to turn a blind eye to. It becomes even worse when the victims themselves accept it as part of a normal relationship. It chills me to the core to know this kind of thing still goes on.

    A Deadly Choice

I'll be honest Bill, at first I was little apprehensive about reading this since I knew you'd done a literal interpretation of the theme, but I love it. The ending reminds me of those "choose your own adventure" books from when I was a kid. You got a small snippet of story and then were given two or three choices to pick from to see how the story would develop.

    What the . . .

So last night we were watching the old film Bugsy Malone with some friends and their kids. About half way through the film, one of our friends sons, Matthew, who is 14, made the following comment. "I'd love to coat that in honey and lick it off". Assumed he was referring to Tallulah (played by Jodie Foster) or maybe Blousey (played by Florrie Dugger). Nope, I was wrong on both counts. Turned out he was actually perving on Bugsy (played by Scott Baio). Well, that's one way of coming out to friends.
  14. A really touching story Wayne. I loved it.
  15. I find threats of physical violence work. My muse is still recovering from the last buttkicking I gave it after it buggered off on holiday for two weeks
  16. A great tip Libby. One that we should all try to manage, but it's getting that balance right that's the tricky part.
  17. I've been lax coming into this forum lately. I'm just gonna say welcome to everyone who has recently joined. That really is great news Ken. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

    JB and Me

Thanks Rob. Bits and pieces probably do have some basis in reality. I've twisted and embellished and stretched it out for the sake of fiction, but there's a few nuggets of semi-reality there. Mrs Kizzen is one of them - she's based on this quirky lovely little Romanian woman who runs a shop nearby. Thanks for all of your help with this story Rob

    JB and Me

Thanks Aditus. The dialogue was actually some of the hardest stuff to get right with the story.
  20. A great piece Andrew, and I wish you all the best for your future stories.

    Chapter 7

Thanks for reviewing. I've just travelled a lot over the years. I can remember when it used to take four days to travel from Sofia to St Petersburg by train (back in the days of the USSR), and all those passport checks at border. I was one of the few kids who had to get a new passport every few years because I kept on running out of pages with visas and entry/exit stamps I hope to start posting new chapters of this story soon.
