    Weekly Wrap Up!

Too much drama in a week for me. I just hope we can now all get back to what we enjoy doing the most: reading, writing and reviewing. I hope there will be lots of questions for the Can't Stop Reading club, and that not too many come my way
  2. So tonight on Challenge TV, two of the greatest children's shows ever are being shown from the beginning. Both were shows that every 80's child in the UK wanted to be on. Funhouse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fun_House_(UK_game_show) and Knightmare http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knightmare These two shows were on when satellite TV was practically unheard of in the UK. In fact, we only had four TV channels when these two shows were first broadcast. Knightmare was probably the most popular children's show ever with 5 million viewers at it's height - this was around 85% of the children's viewing audience. This show was so popular than an online petition to have it released on DVD reached over 100k signatures. Watch and relieve your childhood. I know I will be.
  3. Yeah, Welsh is special. Nobody likes trying to learn Welsh. Not only is there a lot of mutation of letters (as in the perffaith/berffaith example in the article), there's the long strings of consonants with seemingly no vowels, and there are two different ways of counting
  4. Away from GA I've recently started re-reading Christian Jacq's Ramses series. I'm also re-reading the Sherlock Holmes stories.
  5. I'll tell you come discussion day. **plans to ask Lugh a question, you is not safe**
  6. It's never easy dealing with the emotional strain when a loved one is ill, but it's even harder when it's a parent. I shed so many tears in private when I was going through something similar with my mum years ago. The hardest part of all is the tongue-biting Rob - I'm amazed I never bit my tongue off Looking back, I can laugh at some of the little things Mum did, I need to or it'd drive me nuts. It's good to be active with other things as well. As much as people would like to, you can't devote your every breath to taking care of someone. I've seen friends of mine do it, and they have ended up hating themselves and the person they are looking after. It's important to be able step away and do something, anything, that is part of your own life. I know. Enough of me being maudlin. Take care Rob
  7. Wow, my story picked as part of this month's CSR Thanks Cia. I guess I'd better take a more active part this month
  8. It's not an easy topic to find stuff on the net on - I know, I've tried. That's part of the reason why I've only dipped my toes into the subject in some of my stories, and never tried to write anything of length or detail on the matter. I'd suggest contacting either one of the gender clinics around the UK or GIRES and see if they are prepared to send you some material on the legal issues people with GID face, or they may be able to point you to someone who can help. You could also try Press For Change who are experts in transgender law (at least according to their website). There are also a few other links from their website as well. Please note that I do not endorse any of these websites, and I'm not suggesting that they are accurate in any way.
  9. Since the Klingons have no birds of prey to spare due to Captain Kirk constantly blowing them up:
  10. Welcome Jay. Welcome Myiege. Welcome Thorn. Hope you all enjoy GA.
  11. Hi Elez You'll be missed. Take care
  12. I'd have to say ninjas. I grew up watching a lot of badly-dubbed Japanese TV. Monkey and The Water Margin were both insanely huge in the 1980s here in the UK.
  13. It's just not logical, Jim. We have the same problem. Brand new electronic system for patient records installed. Upteen thousand pounds spent. The piece of crap doesn't do what it said on the tin
  14. Happy birthday Finn, hope you have a great day

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review hun I've always been a fan of the bad boys. I would have liked to have seen a darker side to Harry at some point. This would have been the perfect start
  17. Happy birthday Yang
  18. Manchester in July sounds good to me. Good luck on the job hunting Paya

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review. You're right in that there is a lot of slash fiction around about those two. Most of it is when they are older - well old enough so that the sex and stuff doesn't sound weird and perverted I think the first year gets overlooked a lot because it would end up being a slash without sex. Glad you enjoyed the look back.
  20. I never enjoyed Anne McCaffrey's stuff. I don't think I actually got more than halfway through a book. Here's hoping Dan has improved on her work Added to my ever increasing list of must reads.

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review Daithi. I've always wondered just how much would have changed given this, but trust me I have no plans to rewrite the entire HP universe

    Chapter 3

You're going to have to tone down these chapters. I can only take so many cold showers The demons living together as a family is an interesting idea. It'll be interesting to see where that leads. Jahke seems to be accepting his fate. Hell in his shoes, so would I Keep up the writing.

    Chapter 1

The black haired, eleven year old wizard sat on the stool, and he looked out upon the Great Hall of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He looked around at all of the students, the ghosts, the floating candles, the enchanted ceiling, and anything else to try to take his mind off of the churning of his stomach. The last thing he needed, the last thing he wanted, was to throw up at his new school in full view of the entire student body and the whole teaching faculty. He heard all of the
  24. Harry Potter has just arrived at Hogwarts and had the Sorting Hat plopped on his head. Where will the Hat place him?
