Having lived half my life south of the Mason Dixon line, I feel the need for this contribution. If we're talking about all the totally useless, even dangerous (but absolutely deeeeelicious) crap we can stuff our faces with, don't forget Moon Pies. MMMMMMM! I can just feel my arteries hardening!

As to the former, for those who just can't help themselves, they're back this coming Monday. As to the latter, while he's way, WAY too young for me anymore, I can still recognize and appreciate a thing of beauty. Thanks for sharing, James!

I admit this is the first of your work that I've read. But I'm hooked now and will be checking out your other stories as well. Good start to this one; looking forward to the next chapter!

"The epilogue is working its way through the team." Just that one sentence from CJ a couple of days ago has once again set my palms to sweating, my heart to palpitating, and my imagination to running wild! Not only because it will wrap up all the loose ends, but because it will truly be the ending to this incredible journey. I want to both rejoice and cry like a blubbering idiot at the same time.

There's so much incredible material here on GA to enjoy, but I'm sure that most of us enjoy reading books outside of the site as well. How about sharing our favorites and maybe steer others to more great reads? Right now, for fiction, I'm reading James Patterson's Second Honeymoon. Nonfiction has me engrossed in David McCollough's John Adams. And in my spare time (hehe) I'm finishing up reading Dean Koontz's Darkfall. It's the final reread of four of his classics (Strangers, Watchers, Whispers, and Darkfall). So how about you? What's currently tripping your literary trigger? I'd espescially be interested in what you GA authors like to read. BTW, I'm on my third Nook Reader. I upgraded the first time, but literally wore out the second one! ROFL!

STOP with all the unanswered questions!! I'd forgotten about many of the unresolved issues. It'll take poor CJ into next year to get all of the loose ends tied up in the epilogue. ROFLMAO!!!

All I gotta say is, I sure as hell hope Michael turns out to be worth it! Sounds like potentially high maintenance. Good luck with the surgery tomorrow, KC. Our prayers are with you!

As usual the detail involved in this chapter is unequaled. You created an entirely plausible and believable solution to the dire situation in which our characters found themselves. The epilogue still remains, but a hearty slap on the back, and a resounding "Well done!", CJ.

Circumnavigation (99+57) final chapter: From Hell's Heart
mickey1952 replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
An incredible ending to an incredible story! It was another nail biter; plus, I can't believe what a fast read this chapter was, considering it's size. And while I know there's still an epilogue coming, I'm pretty sure that I just felt the first pang of withdrawal, knowing that there are no more chapters to look forward to. But, as they say, all good things.....yadda, yadda. Farewell Atlantis, Trevor, et al. -
Final chapter update - it will appear today!

Yipeee!!!! It's like Christmas in June. Can't wait to find out what's under the tree! -
Where the hell is the final chapter!?!?!?
mickey1952 replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
Waiting for the final chapter has yielded some fascinating insight into the world of beta readers and/or editors. As I said in a previous post, I had no idea of the work involved in getting a story ready for posting or publication. So here's another question for any of you on CJ's team. How did you become a beta reader or editor for CJ or another GA author? Any special qualifications? Did you have to "audition"? It's just curiosity to go along with my newfound respect for you and the role you fill in our reading enjoyment. (Thanks again!) -
Where the hell is the final chapter!?!?!?

Thanks for the update, CJ. It's actually fascinating (to me, anyway) to learn about all of the steps and hard work it takes to get a chapter ready for posting. And all of this effort is totally voluntary. Yes, it's frustrating to endure the waits, but a lot easier when you understand the process a little better. Kudos to your incredible team!! -

I just figure it this way: The longer the wait, the sweeter the reward. Yum! -
Life doesn't fit into neat little boxes
mickey1952 commented on K.C.'s story chapter in Life doesn't fit into neat little boxes
I wish the chapters were longer so we could enjoy each one just a little longer. That's the worst criticism I could come up with! You just keep knocking it out of the park each week. And dittos with the "Life doesn't always fit...." kudos. I also wrote it down so I can shamelessly use it someday when I need to sound profound. Keep it coming, KC! -

When this story is finally at an end I'm going to miss this forum almost as much as the story itself. What a great bunch of characters you all are! One other observation. No matter what the final word count is, it's a good thing this is all online and not on actual paper. Surely an entire forest would be missing by now. LOL! -
Circumnavigation (99+56) The Belly of the Beast
mickey1952 replied to C James's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
While waiting for the last chapter of Circumnavigation, here's a suggestion. It's the perfect time to refamiliarize yourself with one of CJ's earlier efforts. I'm rereading For the Love and enjoying it all over again! Jake is also worth another visit, as is almost any of CJ's earlier work. Or, if that doesn't help, you can't go wrong with any of Dom Luka's contributions. New is great, but there's a lot to be said for the tried and true, as well. It'll make the wait easier, because we already know the wait will be worth it. -

Life really HAS happened to you recenty, my friend! I'm sure I speak for all of your other friends out there in saying that we feel for ya. And just knowing what's been going on allows us to have the added patience to wait a little longer for that humongous last chapter. At least that's all I needed, was a quick update. You hang in there, and so will we. Take care!! -

On April 20, CJ, you stated that would "endeavor to get the final chapter finished promptly, no more long waits". On May 6, you said you expected to have the final chapter in beta within 48 hours. Life happens, and my love and respect are as deep as ever, but my friend, with the end so close, you're killin' us here, dude! Just give us another idea of when. Please? -
Circumnavigation (99+56) The Belly of the Beast

While we wait patiently (hmmmm!) for the final chapter I did some research and thought y'all might find it as interesting as I did. According to Amazon's Text Stats and other sources, anything less than 50,000 words is not considered a novel by the publishing industry. The average novel ranges between 64,000 and 85,000 words. So far, by CJ's own count, Circumnavigation is at 1, 105, 701 words. Averaged out over the 3 years CJ has worked on the story, that compares to just shy of 5 "average-size" novels per year! Quite the feat, especially when you consider that all of us fans are just as invested in the story now (actually, even more so) than we were at the beginning. Impressive, to say the least. -
A nail biting, by-the-seat-of-the-pants chapter. The research involved must be tremendous. I can see why you want everything just right before you post. I'm so glad to see Shane survived and so happy to see that Bridget didn't. You know we will, CJ, but I hope we don't have to wait quite so long for the last chapter. What a great way to spend part of a Saturday night! Kudos!

It posted and boy, was it worth the wait. I sat on the edge of my chair during the entire read. It was as though we were right there on Atlantis, sharing every nervewracking moment with Trev and his "crew". It was as gratifying to see Shane survive as it was satisfying to see Bridget not survive. Good riddance. Now the wait begins to see just how our heroes survive Dean. Just amazing work, CJ! Once again, thanks for sharing your talent and imagination. -
So close, and yet so far away!

At long last the interminable wait is almost over. Tingling with excitement and anticipation! Thanks, in advance, CJ!

LMAO! Damn, DP, chill! You're too young to be strokin' out over all this. But it would help take the edge off if we had the NEXT CHAPTER, wouldn't it? LOL! -

Sorry, C.J., but I gotta agree with JimCarter. Except it's not either/or; you're a brass band IN a blizzard with that last post. But don't worry, we still love ya. Just hurry up and post the next chapter, please! P.S. I've heard that goat is incredibly hard to get tender so you're safe with me.
