Do you care if video games are ever recognized as art?

I agree with Sympathia, mostly. But rather than games being pushed as an art form, I want them to just improve in quality generally. Also, regarding Krista's comment. Art isn't just about the visually appealing - the gaming aspect is also art. I worry a tiny bit that if games as art moves into the mainstream, people will miss that fact. Although I think gaming itself is too well established to really let that happen... -

Why did you end it there?? This reads a lot like what could be a great back story for Nick later on in a story set in the future...you know, when he's all dark and twisted and you need some reason to explain why he is how he is

Oh I didn't mean sad exactly, just that they were touching, emotionally. I really wish they would go back to that quality of storytelling I'll probably play XIII-2 at some point....but I know I'll hate it....

All of the Final Fantasy games VII - XII. I love stories and I purposefully try and get attached to them. But FFXIII really disappointed me, to the point where I haven't yet bought FFXIII-2. I'm trying to think of other games....I've only played the first KH game, but that one. From DMC 2, the scene between Lucia and Mater or whatever she's called was touching. I'm also very attached to Dante of course, but that's for....other reasons. Tales of Eternia and FF War of the Lions on the PSP also left their marks. Also, this is emotional in the happy way, but most recently I'm completely in love with both Alistair and Morrigan from Dragon Age. It's the bisexual nightmare that I never hope to have happen to me in real life

The game's set in an alternate universe and is non-canon. So basically it's just a way for them to make money. But like other's have already said....hot cute naked guy

Okay, so I'm back into my I-want-to-smack-Elijah mode. But this was a very beautifully written chapter, and I like that Mrs. Harding finally tried some kind of intervention. Too bad it didn't work, but I honestly think this has opened up opportunities for her to do the same again.

I was vaguely amused. I consider my first death threat as a milestone However, my GA email is separate from my personal and professional ones. If anyone's worried about this stuff happening again, maybe they should look into a set up like that?

I think that's about as much as I could stand, as long as this "fee" isn't too high! I'm definitely moving to PC gaming otherwise. But hopefully they're all just rumours....*fingers crossed*

So I've been reading a couple of articles about the next generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony. There are a lot of rumours going round, especially about how the new machines won't play pre-owned games any more. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2012/mar/28/playstation-4-rumours I understand the argument of developers make no money out of pre-owned games, even though the product being sold is something they made. But to me personally, it seems that games are priced too high and with each new generation of console, the price jumps another £10-£20 automatically! What do you guys/girls think?

Interactive gaming, from Duck Hunt to Wii to motion capture

I like the idea...but don't think the tech's there yet for some of the games. I've only paid on the Wii, not the Kinect or Playstation Move so my experience is kind of limited. But mostly I wanted to say I still love Duck Hunt! -

This your first story I'm reading since I joined GA and you were nice enough to add me I feel really, really bad for Percy. But that's because I'm at this weird point in my life where I automatically feel really, really bad for any closeted guy/guy I suspect might be closeted And I like how you write so far, will review again when I'm done with the whole story!

PS3, but only because I bought the PS1 waaay back from Score Games (Score Games I miss you ) in Paris. Since then I've stuck to Playstations, mostly because I couldn't imagine not playing Final Fantasy, Tekken, and later DMC. However, I don't really care about "which console is best" and I don't think a lot of games are now single console anyway. The only reason I see me sticking to Playstation is because I'll be too lazy to switch...unless some one of the other brands really does something special. (Or if Sony end up being the only company to ban preowned games).

So I've stopped keeping track of what comes out when due to a HUGE backlog of games that need to be finished, but: 1. Anything Final Fantasy, although I have no idea if anything is scheduled 2. I agree that this is going to be a big, big problem in the future. I do have a FB account, along with Gmail and G+ accounts. And yes, my mobile phone numbers, personal photos etc. are there. However, I've made sure that none of these photos are anything that I'd mind becoming completely public...and I don't really think I've EVER taken a photo that's embarrassing enough for me to never want it to go public. And my phones are always pre-paid, and I used to avoid all location based services (use GPS now). As for being bombarded by adverts - I honestly don't notice it any more, I just filter it all out. If I want to buy something, I will go out and get it, adverts or not.

I like this broader view. Also, I like arming myself with specific geographical/cultural/historical knowledge for when I confront the parents!
